THOUGHTS TO QUICKEN AND INSPIRE

Pastor Ernest Anderson

DON’T SLEEP ON THE JOB: One of the things to be known if you are to be blessed and see the hand of God upon your life and labours is the need to be spiritually wide awake to Him and His directives. Satan, your enemy, would lull you to sleep by various means and take the sparkle out of your accord with God and interfere in your work and usefulness in the kingdom of God. In the light of the coming of the LORD and the world’s pathetic condition, you are caledl to be alert and at a premium for Him in worship and work. Keep an early vigil with Him and seek to maintain it throughout the ensuing hours so that when you come to end of the day you will be in tip top condition. Because you are a wake you can waken others and keep them awake and industrious inn the things of God. When your master arrives on the scene He will be delighted that you kept a spiritual vigilance.

WISE COUNSEL

MUCH TO EXPECT: This is an excellent, encouraging wise saying: ’the thing a wicked man fear shall come upon him, but the desire of the (uncompromisingly righteous shall be granted’ – Proverbs 10: 24. Two outcomes that must be considered and the right one responded to. Those who have no time for that which is good and favourable in God’s eyes exist in a fearful and hopeless condition. The future is bleak and not bright, full of foreboding and misfortune. Evil overtakes and ruins the evil person. Not so whose lives and actions are inspired and influenced by the LORD. The rich and wholesome desires entertained will blossom forth into a noble and fruitful status. There is an assured promise in Psalm 37: 8 – ‘Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart.’ Having the LORD observing your belief and behaviour incites to wholesome conduct that is abundantly compensated.

SPENDING YOUR LIFE

‘Not how long, but how well you have lived is the main thing’ – Seneca

‘Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that is the stuff life is made of’ – Benjamin Franklin
