THOUGHTS TO QUICKEN AND INSPIRE

Pastor Ernest Anderson

PERSEVERE: One lesson we had to learn unconsciously as we came on to the scene as a babe. There came the time when we had to learn to talk, to stand, to walk etc. It was an occasion when our parents persevered and we had to in order to make progress. Difficulties had to be dealt with and overcome but because there was the innate will and drive within to press through so success occurred. It is an ingredient in life that we shall always need and put into operation. Things do not just fall into our lap with ease but so often persisted in. With regard to your life in God the element of perseverance plays its role. For instance, Jesus said: ‘Men ought always to pray and not faint – give up’ – Luke 18:1. The Christian life is not for the faint-hearted, for those who soon want to throw in the towel! Yes, there may be contest and the struggles, but the will to press through will see you through to satisfaction and worthy conclusions. Like the song inspiringly puts it: ‘We shall overcome.’

WISE COUNSEL

IT PAYS TO OBEY: ‘The wise in heart will accept and obey commandments, but the foolish of lips will fall headlong’ – Proverbs 10: 8. When you have a great amount of common and spiritual sense, you know how well to order your life to good and great gain. Being of a sound mind means you are conscious of how to use it to your advantage and at the same time, aid others. You may not be wealthy in material goods but you have discovered what the real treasure of life is. There is a regular investment in choice principles and procedures that keep you at peace and come off best daily in what you do. Going for God and that which He approves of is creditable practice and holds the immense prospect of His immediate blessing and ultimate commendation and advancement. The path of obedience to all that is right is one tat is appointed by the LORD, and He is altogether wise!
