Never forget in your pilgrim journey through this life the vital thing to pursue is relationship with and likeness to Christ. The old hymn placed the emphasis aright with the words: ‘Never lose sight of Jesus’. Such is in accord with the Scriptures when it says: ‘Looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our Faith” – Hebrews 12:1. You will never go wrong or astray as you maintain this vision, passion and action and there will be an ever growing into His likeness. Both He and you will be delighted with this occurring. In fact, others will get the message, like the image shown and desire to be inspired by your example. You will see the Christianising of the Church and World by your devotion to Him.

“Be not deceived, God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” – Galatians 6:7

Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves. In sowing and spreading that which is wholesome and good, the inevitable result is the returns are similar and even more blessed and bountiful.

The assurance for you today is, to know the glorious quickening of God’s Spirit in your being and to note the difference He makes. In Romans 8: 11 you are informed: “But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you.” Note that He does not come as a quiet resident to sit around to observe, but to minister life, power and energy and all the wherewithal to live a potent life. God does not want any of His sons simply scraping through but has provided the best to enable them to live a full and dynamic life. So learn to draw upon the vast reserves latent in the Holy Spirit. They are to be patent in you!

BEING HEEDLESS – Jeremiah 40 & 41

In spite of all the things that had occurred in bringing judgment, the favour of the Lord was manifested through the Babylonians to a remnant. A man by the name of Gedaliah was made the governor. His job was to rule and look after those that had been left and see to their welfare. God’s servant, Jeremiah, chose to stay with this company and things appeared to go quite well. A number of the guerrilla bands in the land became supportive and folks began to return and rebuild. The prospects looked pretty good when considering what they had passed through.

News reached the guerrilla leaders that someone by the name of Ishmael was plotting the removal of the governor and they informed him of it. They wanted to deal with the matter and eliminate him for the sake of the people but he forbade it. The sad thing was that he played right into the hands of this evil, designing individual by inviting him and his cohorts to a meal that turned into a tragedy. It was an unwise thing to do and so he and his officials lost their lives. The warning that had been given was totally disregarded and so many suffered because of it. He even failed to have around those who could defend should something go wrong.

It is expected that there should be a state of vigilance in the experience of the Christian believer. How essential it is there should be a safeguarding of life and faith in the presence of an evil world where there are those that would design and effect spiritual downfall! Many have been seduced and sidetracked and have been wrecked because they failed to heed the warning signs and messages that the Lord sent through others. Be reminded: “your adversary the devil goes around seeking whom he may devour.” Do not become one of his victims. Be alert to things!
