Be faithful to that which the LORD has called you to. Know in mind and heart His special and personal vocation for your life and do not delay in achieving His noble purposes. All the fulfilment and satisfaction to be found is in this. You are special to Him and He has a distinct assignment and agenda for your present existence and experience. Only as you wait on and for Him will this become clear and convincing and the discovery will be yours that He will be with you all the way to see such wrought out..At the conclusion, you will receive both His admiration and commendation and you will be eternally grateful that you fell in accord with His will.

“And Jesus said unto Him”, ‘No man, having put his hand to the plough and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God’ – Luke 9:62

Having been born into and blessed within the kingdom by the King, how can go back to gthat which is lesser and not lasting. Life can only be understood by looking backward, but it must be lived looking forward.

Whilst there are positive spiritual factors to be introduced into one new   nature that have to be put off, removed from one’s being and behaviour. Paul said to the saints at Ephesus “That you put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts – Eph 4:22. It should become obvious that Christ has renewed you and that the Holy Spirit is in charge and that you are conforming to the standards that God’s Word reveal. It is essential to identify them and see that they have no place in our faith and conduct.

“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them” – Ephesians 5:11. Seeing you have been lit up by Christ the Light of Life and the World, you are to shine with a unique lustre, revealing the positive qualities of life that were and are in Him. Having disposed of all the evil factors you cannot help but radiate and emit the glorious beauty and effulgence of Christ. As Christ reflected the image and glory of the Father, so this is transmitted to and through you. Satan, the prince of darkness has no presence or authority now over you because you are in the kingdom of light to be a shining example of the life that is to be found and known in Christ alone. You are His light-bearer!

A STARK CONTRAST – Jeremiah 24

A particular vision was given to God’s servant to grant knowledge of what was happening with regard to the people that had been exiled and the ones still remaining at Jerusalem under king, Zedekiah. Two baskets of figs were revealed, one full of good figs, the other, bad. A lesson of significance was conveyed given the state of two lots of people. Those regarded as the good fruit were the ones’ that had been taken captive to Babylon and the bad were the folks still resident in the homeland. The position of both could not be more in stark contrast.

One would think that those who had been taken captive would be in the worst situation: not so. They were a chosen company taken out to be preserved from destruction and to be prepared by God at a later date for repatriation having learned some major lessons in Babylon. They were not to be pitied but envied because God was to be with them to work out some good things – vv5-7. It was far better to be facing this difficult period and state with God than be subjected to a time of awful judgment at home. They were in a much securer and safer place.

There are occasions when it possible to be jealous of someone else because they may appear to be in a more secure situation of life. They may have escaped a dreaded evil and look as if everything has turned out to distinct advantage. It often seems that evil people get the better of things. It needs to be understood that God does give insight beforehand to show that such are not so well placed. If the real truth was known they are in a vulnerable and treacherous position. The only true and sure security and hope is in being covered and catered for by the Lord.
