You must always be prepared to venture forth and do something new and fresh whatever your age and circumstances be. Do not be off-put by people or the challenge. The LORD who is ever with you to inspire and encourage will be with you and supply that which you sense may lack. Be emboldened by the faith of God and the clear vision before and step out and begin to write a new chapter that will be the best and greatest that has gone before. Know that in and through clear command give by the God in the Old Testamentin His eternal kingdom of power, your presence within it is to add to its life, lustre and commendation. So be up and doing, moving into some choice blessings that will advance the kingdom and enhance you in Christ.

“But thou, O man of God flee those things; and follow after righteousness godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness2 – 1 Timothy 6:11.

What lovely and choice qualities to be inspired with and cultivate. They will make you God-like and into a profitable and commendable character that will inspire others!

Whilst there are positive spiritual factors to be introduced into one new nature received from Christ, there are things that belong to the old sinful and carnal nature that have to be put off, removed from one’s being and behaviour. Paul said to the saints at Ephesus “That you put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts – Eph 4:22. It should become obvious that Christ has renewed you and that the Holy Spirit is in charge and that you are conforming to the standards that God’s Word reveal. It is essential to identify them and see that they have no place in our faith and conduct.

“or covetousness” – for. Ephesians 5:3. A clear command given by God to His ancient people, Israel, was ‘you shall not covet’ and listed some of the things that should not be unholy desired – Exodus 20: 17. There are things that are really forbidden and must not be sinfully longed for. They are forbidden territory. If pursued they produce a great deal of harm. Achan in the OT coveted what was forbidden and paid an awful price. You are to set your affections on what is right, good and holy and in the interests of God and others. All that is of selfish nature must be crucified, in other words, put to death and not allowed to live or exist. Be content with what you have, look after the same and the Lord will add more of the same.

MAKE YOUR CHOICE – Jeremiah 21

The king, Zedekiah, sends to God’s servant to get an up-to-date forecast of what is to happen. The tokens were not good because already the Babylonians had begun their attack on Judah and everything looked threatened for destruction. What the prophet had been stating was now becoming a fact and so this stubborn monarch was making further inquiry. At least he sensed that this individual did have a message of note. He was merely vacillating and thought the Lord was of the same character. He said: “Perhaps the Lord will be gracious and do a mighty miracle as he has done in the past. Perhaps he will force Nebuchadnezer to withdraw his armies” – v2.

The answer he got was that if they wanted to be saved then they must surrender themselves willingly to their foes. The only way of escape was to cast themselves upon the mercy and good will of their invaders. It was a challenging demand to make and it called upon them to make a choice. They were either to stay and contend and be subject to defeat and ruination or yield and be spared and taken into exile. There was no other option open to them to secure their future. It was a tough decision that was called for.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ presents all people with a clear choice if they are to be saved from eternal judgment. All have to cast themselves upon the goodness and mercy of God. He lays the terms down for surrender and salvation. Christ must be received as Saviour and Lord and a faith and obedience has to be rendered to Him now. The decision has to be made to embrace His way of salvation. Make sure that you have done so because the alternative is eternal damnation.
