Let a sense of heavenly and holy excitement and holy enthusiasm inspire you today. In the next hours, in your life and service, be quickened in your desires and expectations from the LORD and His multi promises so that you engage people, pursuits, plans and even problems in great spirit and assurance. You are not on your own as you confront factors that may seem impossible and beyond your capabilities. One stands with you who is all-sufficient and is ready to share is expertise and energy. Make this day register in your diary for God with choice happenings and workings that honour Him and release you into a fuller life and ministry.

“He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand; but the hand of the diligent maketh rich” – Proverbs 10:4

There is nothing like hard work and industry that provides food for the stomach, clothes for the body and enough to enjoy other good things in life besides providing for others. Be enriched to enrich others less fortunate!

Whilst there are positive spiritual factors to be introduced into one new nature received from Christ, there are things that belong to the old sinful and carnal nature that have to be put off, removed from one’s being and behaviour. Paul said to the saints at Ephesus “That you put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts – Eph 4:22. It should become obvious that Christ has renewed you and that the Holy Spirit is in charge and that you are conforming to the standards that God’s Word reveal. It is essential to identify them and see that they have no place in our faith and conduct.

Eph 4: 25 “Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour . . . “Those who are liars will not be found in heaven so the warning needs to be taking seriously.- Rev 21:8. God is the God of truth and truth must always be spoken by the Christian believer. There are instances in the Scriptures when good men and women told lies and seemed to get away with it, especially in the Old Testament, but this is not permissible to the saint in Christ Jesus. Ananias and Saphirra found to their loss and regret it was not to be. So always develop a truthful mind, heart and mouth and such will be to your credit and profit.

The prophet appeared stuck in a hopeless set of circumstances as he viewed the state of his people. Besides seeing the land devastated and denuded he was also to witness countless numbers of the folks going into exile. They were to be uprooted and taken as prisoners to Babylon, so the future looked as bleak as it possibly could be. It could not be worse. How easy to have been totally depressed in the sight of all these events! Everything was a picture of hopelessness and this could have given way to a spirit of total despair.

But the Lord, who knows the end from the beginning, was able to speak and sound a word of hope that would bring some relief. Although his people were to be subjected to a grueling time there would be some real light at the end of the long tunnel. A prophetic message was given to reveal that the Lord was still in control and would do something major at the end of the ordeal. – “The time is coming when people who are taking an oath will no longer say, ‘As surely as the lord rescued the people from the land of Egypt. Instead they will say, As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the people of God back to their own land from the land of the north’ . . . .”– vv14, 15.

Even when things have reached such a critical state and there seems to be no ground for hope the Lord is able to speak a word of assurance that gives every reason to hope. When all is written off and despair and dejection would seek to settle in, He is able to change the condition. He gives grounds for hope when there appears to be no basis for such. As you wrestle with a situation of this nature right now, let Him address the matter and deal with all the negativity and inspire hope. In the most despairing circumstances He is able to give His assurance and answer.
