IN MESSAGE FOR TODAY

The psalmist affirms: “My soul, wait thou only upon God, for my expectation is from Him” – Psalm 62:5. When He speaks into the life words of hope and assurance one are given. He also guarantees their fulfilment.. He has the wherewithal to fulfil every expectation it gives. The Scriptures are ample proof of that in what He has wrought for others. He still desires to perform this now to those who will relate to Him. As you spend time with Him and His Word, He will communicate incredible possibilities to take place besides other things. Now is the time to witness the hand as well as the word of God coming into glorious realisation? Be full of divine expectancy for such will prove fruitful.

A GREAT STORY

John was walking home from school one day when he noticed the boy ahead of him had tripped and dropped all of the books he was carrying, along with two sweaters, a baseball bat, a glove and a small tape recorder.

John knelt down and helped the boy pick up the scattered articles. Since they were going the same way, he helped to carry part of the burden. As they walked John discovered the boy’s name was Bill, that he loved video games, baseball and history, and that he was having lots of trouble with his other subjects and that he had just broken up with his girlfriend.

They arrived at Bill’s home first and John was invited in for a Coke and to watch some television. The afternoon passed pleasantly with a few laughs and some shared small talk, then John went home. They continued to see each other around school, had lunch together once or twice, then both graduated from junior high school. They ended up in the same high school where they had brief contacts over the years.

Finally the long-awaited senior year came and three weeks before graduation, Bill asked John if they could talk. Bill reminded him of the day years ago when they had first met. “Did you ever wonder why I was carrying so many things home that day?” asked Bill. “You see, I cleaned out my locker because I didn’t want to leave a mess for anyone else. I had stored away some of my mother’s sleeping pills and I was going home to commit suicide. But after we spent some time together talking and laughing, I realized that if I had killed myself, I would have missed that time and so many others that might follow. So you see, John, when you picked up those books that day, you did a lot more than that, you saved my life.

If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.

WISE SAYINGS

“Have not commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid; neither be thou dismayed; for the Lord thy God is with thee withersoever thou goest” – Just make sure that He is with you and all will be well. There will be no-one and nothing to affright and frustrate that cannot be dealt with by Him.

DAILY MEDITATIONS

EXCELLENT COUNSEL – Romans 12: 9-21

In these verses the apostle Paul passes on a tremendous amount of good advice to counsel those who are consecrated and committed to Christ. He touches upon many important aspects of Christian living and practice that if carried through ensures the well-being and fruitfulness of the believer. It is essential not only to read, listen and study what is said but also to carry through the directives that are given. Only when what is rightly affirmed is applied that there is the development of quality character and resultant blessing from the Lord. The consecrated person is ready to respond positively to that which will produce worthy results.

He gives a powerful instruction especially with regard how to tackle work and service for the Lord. In v11 he says: “Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord.” All labour and activity must be conducted with real zeal and the whole inward condition aglow with spiritual fire and motivation. This is altogether possible when the life has been truly dedicated to the Lord and there is the will to serve Him with pure devotion. Everything must be done by His inspiration and for Him. He is the One that keeps the life aflame and makes the service meaningful and joyful.

Every Christian must be prepared to be taught about the crucial issues of life. There has to be the readiness to be disciplined and counselled by the Lord so that all is conducted to the fullest advantage. Ponder all that is written here and note if there are areas that require picking up upon within your relationship with Christ. These are sacred rules and principles to be adopted so your life and service attains the highest for Christ.
