Mordecai made the point to Esther that she was made ‘for such a time as this’ – Esther 4;14. It was no accident that she had been made queen and that she was thrust into a crisis situation. She had to respond because this would be the historical making of her and salvation would be for her people. No less is true of and for you. You are where you by the Lord’s ordering and to witness His extraordinary working through you in a very difficult state. Do not back off but receive enboldenment from your God and act as you should for Him. He will vindicate you completely.

SERMON STARTERS – SAYING THANK YOU – 1 Thessalonians 5: 18; Psalm 107

One of the first things our parents sought to instil into us from infancy was the matter of giving thanks. Gratefulness must become an essential part of our being and behaviour in small and bid things received. The Christian has every reason to live with a spirit and constant expression of appreciation. 1/. The great fact of being a son and child of God and member of the divine household – John 1:11,12; Romans 8:15-17. 2/. The pleasure of experiencing God’s providence in your daily life – Philippians 4:19. There will never be any lack in needful supply and sustenance – Psalm 23: 1. 3/. To enjoy the friendships, those have been real and fulfilling. How thankful David was to have a Jonathan, Elijah and Elisha, Naomi and Ruth! Thank God for the people who have been an asset and a blessing to you. 4/. The extreme delight of being able to exploit and develop your gifts and talents – Matthew 25: 14-30. 5/. The immense blessing in living by faith: not by the spirit of fear and unbelief – Hebrews 11. Have a great day of thanksgiving and give the LORD real joy over your action

A fire started on some grassland near a farm in Indiana. The fire department from the nearby town called to put the fire out, but it proved to be more than the small town fire department could handle, so someone suggested the rural fire department be called. Though there was doubt they would be of any assistance, the call was made.

The volunteer fire department arrived ina dilapidated old fire truck. They drove straight towards the fire and stopped in the middle of the flames, The volunteer firemen jumped off the truck and frantically started spraying water in all directions. Soon they had snuffed out the centre of the fire, breaking the blaze into two easily controllable parts.

The farmer was so impressed with the volunteer fire department’s work, and so grateful that his farm had been spared, that he presented the volunteer fire department with a cheque for a $1,000.

“And be content with such things as you have” – Hebrews 13:5

The grass may look greener on the other side, but it stiil has to be mowed.

God certainly has a main purpose in view for those who have come to true faith in Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. It could not be better or greater! It is that people should become sons of God and reflect the likeness of Jesus in terms of character and conduct – v29. Christ has been sent to be the perfect example of divine sonship and God is desirous of an enormous family of children that conform very much to His image. It means possessing His kind of attitudes and aptitudes, which arise from being in the place of divine relationship and authority.

All that the Christian believer passes through in this life, good or ill, are to serve in the development and fulfilment of this noble design. Whatever takes place is an integral part of bringing this objective into manifestation. The day is to be when the sons of God are to come into their own and rule the universe along with Christ and it is imperative that they be fully prepared. Nothing happens to any of God’s children by chance but all falls within His providence in getting them ready for the occasion when they will reign with Christ over all.

All who profess to be God’s sons in and through Christ must perceive this sense of divine knowledge and destiny. His purpose must be known within the mind and heart so that each day with all of its events and experiences are recognized as being a vital part of preparation of what is to be ultimately revealed. God has called you to the special privilege of divine sonship and all that is taking place is educational to your role in the eternal Kingdom. It is a meaningful life!
