Learn to keep the right pace with your LORD. Know when He is going slowly and when He is speeding up the walk. Be in close alignment with Him and this will be no problem. You will know which way to go, what to do and be in the best situation of making best decisions that will prove rewarding in every way. He never leads astray, is ever at hand to afford the greatest counsel and impart the needed strength for achievement. Make sure you are with Him today.

IMITATION OF CHRIST – Thomas A. Kempis

Learned men are anxious to seem learned to others, and to be called wise?

Many words do not satisfy the soul; but a good life comforteth the mind, and a pure conscience giveth great confidence toward God.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Thought for the Day follows an instructive theme for everyday of the Week. A good word in Christian thought and experience is ‘joy’ and this refers primarily to the knowledge and understanding that God seeks to impart to those who have a daily dynamic accord with Him. Those who really know and relate to God believe in His supreme power, that He can do anything. God the Father desires that His offspring through Christ will know how to perform in similar fashion.

JOY THAT COMES THROUGH ANSWERED PRAYER – John 16: 23-24

Jesus Christ knew what it was to pray successfully and see tremendous answers to His petitions On one occasion He said as He stood outside the grave of Lazarus: ‘Father, I thank you that you have heard me. And I knew that you hearest me always” – John 11:41,42. He got thrilled and excited beyond measure in seeing the Father respond to his requests. His joy must have been incredible and knew no bounds when Lazarus came out of the grave after three days!

He encouraged His disciples and people to pray so that they could taste to the full the unique joy of seeing the answers. He gave the promise: ”Hitherto have you asked nothing in my name: ask, and you shall receive, that your joy may be full” – John 16:24. He was about to open the way to times and experiences of untold delight as they witnessed God the Father responding to their prayers voiced in the authority of His Name. It was now time for them into a new era and begin to see God at work doing the extraordinary and then enjoying the pleasure of the wonderful answers.

Now is the time for you to experience this quality kind of joy. You are not in the business of monotonous praying where nothing happens. All you do is keep at a practise that is unrewarding and joyless. Begin to believe in the One you pray to and begin to expect things to take place that only He can perform.  As you see His interventions your joy will know no bounds. It is time for you to enter this season of answered prayer and abounding joy.

DAILY MEDITATIONS

A CASE OF DECEPTION – Acts 5: 1-11

Who would have thought that such a thing of this nature would have happened in such a wonderful community of people when so many choice things were taking place! Love, devotion and generosity were being displayed in a meaningful and beautiful manner and everyone was being helped and blessed. You would have thought there would have been a jealousy to keep things simply pure and clean without any admixture of unreality and pretence. But it did occur and serves as a warning to all to make sure everything is purely inspired and motivated.

A husband and wife were party to a spiritual, criminal act which they thought they would get away with. They were seeking to give the impression that they were giving a generous gift to the apostles of money that had been obtained from the sale of property. It was a good gesture but that they were donating all the proceeds of the sale was not true. Of course, as pointed out by the apostle, they had a right to keep what they wanted for themselves but no right to make out they were giving all. It proved to be fatal in their case as the deception was exposed.

The truth that comes through this incident is that deception is a lie and must be exposed. The Christian faith and life is not based on such corrupt dealings and when such occurs must be eliminated. There is no room for fabrication and falsehood whatsoever in relation to God and others. God has called you at all times to be a person whose whole motivation is true so that both God and others can wholly depend upon you at all times. When deceit is practiced at any level, God will make sure it is exposed and it can prove to be most embarrassing and severe.

A CONSUMING LOVE

 Zechariah 8

This is a glorious chapter revealing in a beautiful manner the intentions of God for His elect household. It becomes most evident that Jehovah has enormous plans on His drawing board for this people that undergone great retribution because of their sins and they were in a dejected and despised state. But it was not to remain so for He had wonderful dreams for them that would turn into reality in the future days and they are made manifest in this message in covenant promise. Within it is expressed very strongly the certainty of what was to be. And it was all due not to their merit but to His consuming love and passion. His plans would make Jerusalem a centre of great focus.

1/. IT WOULD BE A FAITHFUL CITY – v3,14-17

Instead of unfaithfulness an infidelity there will be the quality of faith and trust present amongst the people because of the presence and work of God in the midst. He lets it be known that He is returning to dwell there and that there will be radical changes effected by and through Him. It will come about because He is the faithful and just God amongst them and He calls for righteousness, truth and integrity and as a result the city will become renowned for this aspect.

2/. IT WOULD BE A HOLY CITY – v3

There is reference to the fact it will be called ‘the Holy Mountain’ thus making known the truth that the city will be holy. Because of the Holy One present and resident and by reason of the holiness of the people it will be correctly named. Jerusalem actually means city of ‘righteousness and peace.’

3/. IT WOULD BE A POPULOUS CITY – vv4-8

It will be renowned because of its population. It will be thriving with people and their will lots of children. They may be but a remnant now but this is all to change. There will be a population explosion because God will increase them.

4/. IT WOULD BE A BLESSED CITY – vv9-13

It was to be blessed because of the Temple and Presence of the Lord and by reason of the peace and prosperity that would be known. Everything was to change and all fear and insecurity would be removed and an everlasting experience of blessing known that would be seen in and on the land. All would be touched by God’s hand of blessing and the curse would be removed.

5/. IT WOULD AN ATTRACTIVE CITY –vv20-23

The news of this would circulate to all the other nations and as a result there would be great evangelism. People from all over will make a trip to the Holy and Faithful City to discover what was happening and come to know Jehovah-God. The city and nation will be honoured because God is honoured amongst them. They will even ask for the similar blessing of God to be placed on them.
