Lots of people and things and amusements seek to grab your attention and affection. Let none have priority over the Lord but permit Him to regulate what your pure, genuine interests will be. In pursuit of them they will yield the greatest returns.

“Do not resent it when God chastens and corrects you, for His punishment is proof of His love. Just as a father punishes asonhe delights into make him better, so the Lord corrects you” – Proverbs 3: 11, 12 – Living Bible

Joshua was blessed by having a good predecessor. He had been able to see up-front what the Lord was capable of doing through a consecrated van, Moses. He had been mentored in see the supernatural and had a heart yearning to see God do outstanding things for His people. He was sadly disappointed as was his colleague, Caleb, to see Israel miss out in taking the land of Canaan under Moses. As far as he was concerned the opposition was ‘bread for them’.

He certainly was the right person to take over the leadership and he was to discover the Lord for himself and see different ways God work extraordinarily in the fresh move. The crossing of Jordan, the taking of Jericho and other supernatural deeds were different to what had preceded. He found that as he worked with the Lord He would give unique answers and prove no matter the demand he was capable of dealing with it. He witnessed Israel possessing the Promised Land.

So the issue is: discover what the Lord has in mind to work for you to achieve incredible things. Put your faith in Him to lead and inspire you with expectations beyond yourself and taste the miraculous in life. God loves to excite His own offspring by performing good and unusual things that can only be done by Him. Take the opportunity now of seeing  His goodness and greatness at work on your behalf.

Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope – Maya Angelou

BEING LIT UP – Isaiah 60

In spite of the mess that this people had gotten into by reason of their evil ways, the Lord holds out great hope for them. Although seemingly in a condition of great darkness He sounds out a wonderful message. There is the proclamation of divine light being shed upon them that will radically alter their situation. They are to be bathed in divine glory and they will be so lit up by their God that all the other nations’ will not be able to escape the sight. The word is:“Arise, shine; for your light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you” – v1. The moment will surely be apparent when they experience a powerful manifestation of God upon them. It will be lighting up time!

The consequence of this extraordinary experience will not be temporary but lasting and will make impact upon all other people. They are to shine forth under the goodness and blessing of the Lord their God so that other nations will be attracted and impressed by this significant fact. These others will also want to contribute to their well-being. Instead of being their enemies they will befriend them in every possible way, bringing gifts and attending to their growth and dignity. All the previous memory of slavery, poverty, and heartache will be completely gone.

The Gospel of Christ is the Good News of divine life lighting up the whole of a person so that they can enjoy God and all of His goodness. As Christ, the Light of the World, is received He has the power to switch the individual on from within and thus illuminating life on every front. God’s entire blessing begins to flow and take effect so that other people are aware of the dynamic change. The Christian becomes a switch on to those in darkness and they are attracted to what they see. Not only are they blessed with light but seek to bless and enlighten others.
