WELCOME TO THIS CHRISTIAN WEBSITE

Thought for the Day follows an instructive theme for everyday of the Week. To be able to achieve and succeed in daily living we require strength. One may have all the ‘know-how’ but have little or no strength to perform and do. It is imperative that you have the life and energy physically, spiritually, morally, mentally etc., so that you see things coming to pass that will gladden your days. The Scriptures are present to guide you into knowing how to know strength of an incredible nature be yours to achieve.

STRENGTH – To Lead and Deliver – Exodus 3

Moses was to be called to fulfil a tremendous task, to deliver a nation of slaves, to lead them out of captivity and bring them into s land of blessing which would become their own. There was no way that he could have undertaken to perform such a task on his own. Even though he was a capable man and had been trained as child in all the wisdom and arts of the Egyptians, these credentials were inadequate. His strength was puny to accept and move in to do such a work.

He knew this when God summoned him at the burning bush. The Lord was to assure him that as he came under heaven’s authority and rule he would receive the wherewithal to achieve the impossible task, he waxed stronger and stronger before Pharaoh and his own people. He was imbued and inspired from on high and saw Egypt wither and wilt before his eyes and the people of God become emboldened. God used one man, strengthened him to strengthen a nation to act in a phenomenal manner.

The hand and arm of omnipotence has not lost its dynamic. Today you can know what it is to be strengthened to do incredible things under His inspiration. This is the hour for you to be emboldened in a manner and measure like never before in your life and testimony. As you wait on and before Him He will descend, anoint and provide all the dynamic and energy to execute on his behalf.

QUOTES TO NOTE – Family

Many times, the decisions we make affect and hurt your closest friends and family the most. I have a lot of regrets in that regard. But God has forgiven me, which I am very thankful for. It has enabled me to forgive myself and move forward one day at a time. Lex Luger

SACRED SONGS

What a Fellowship, what a Joy Divine

There is nothing comparable to the genuine reality and warmth of Christian Fellowship that has been created by Christ and is Christ inspired and centred. He brings different people together and by His grace saves and renews them to make them a part of God’s Family of sons and heirs. They are destined for good things in life and are being prepared for even bigger things. In coming together they can share His presence and goodness and know what it is to have their spiritual batteries recharged on a regular basis.

1/ What a fellowship, what a joy divine, Leaning on the everlasting arms;
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine, Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain:
Leaning, leaning, Safe and secure from all alarms;
Leaning, leaning, Leaning on the everlasting arms.

2/. Oh, how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way, Leaning on the everlasting arms;
Oh, how bright the path grows from day to day, Leaning on the everlasting arms.

3/. What have I to dread, what have I to fear, Leaning on the everlasting arms?
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near,Leaning on the everlasting arms.

DAILY MEDITATIONS

THE TIMING OF GOD – Isaiah 13

The Lord gives notice on what is going to happen to Babylon in His timing – v6 “for the Lord’s time has arrived – the time for the Almighty to destroy.” This nation had been an instrument in God’s hand to mete out judgment to His people but had revealed mercilessness and arrogance on a large scale. Instead of being humbled at being in a place of great power and strength, a haughty attitude had grown and become repulsive. Having reached a high and notable state Babylon imbibed a spirit of independence and superiority that was not commendable and required dealing with. It was an evil that God could and would not tolerate.

In His schedule, God has the exact moment when He appoints action to be taken against sinful men and nations. The Babylonians were going to be subject to war and defeat at the hands of the Medes who would show no mercy. Such would be the punishment exercised that Babylon would be removed just as like Sodom and Gomorrah. Their days were numbered and they would finish up reduced not only to impotence but absolute removal. A heavy price was to be paid for the way they had behaved. In failing to learn the lesson of history, they lost their way and position.

The incident teaches that God rules the world of nations. The last century, more than anything, has shown that when kingdoms leave God out, become egotistical and cruel that God is able to dispose of them as He designs. The same can be said about individuals as well. When people become independent, ruthless and godless, He can determine their demise and thus expose their frailty. Be certain that your conduct is such that it can bear the scrutiny of the Lord so that you may live in His favour and not be discredited.

FURTHER NOTES FROM THE MINOR PROPHETS

(31)

A CHALLENGING MESSAGE

Haggai 1

This prophet, Haggai, was one of the inspiring messengers following the exile in Babylon. It had been a difficult time whilst they were aliens and on their return things had been far from easy. But this man of God comes to challenge the immediate set up and get things into divine perspective so that everything would begin to move ahead and prosper as God had designed. His task was stir up the leaders and the people into a worthwhile project that if accepted and engaged upon would bring some profitable returns besides honouring the Lord.

1/. THE CHALLENGE WAS TO CONSIDER THE IMMEDIATE STATEMENT -v2

One notes the democratic mind and mood of the people. It was completely negative towards to the matter of building the Lord’s Temple. What was actually present was a spirit and state of indifference towards the most important consideration and which should have been primary on their agenda. A consideration of their history with its subsequent judgement would have made evident the fact that it was because of negligence and indifference to the Lord that had landed them in difficulty and in exile. What they were doing and saying was procrastinating with an issue of major importance. They were voicing an excuse that freed them seemingly from a task that should have had their wholehearted devotion. Haggai challenges that mental and spiritual state and rightly so.

2/. THE CHALLENGE WAS TO FACE WHAT WAS REALLY OCCURRING -vv3-6

The amazing thing was that they could make sure that their own houses and residences were erected and put up. There was nothing wrong for that engagement but it was wrong in the light of the neglect of God’s House. The release from exile had all been the Lord’s doing but there is no sense or conviction that He ought to be essentially thought about at that hour.

The argument is made by the prophet, that they were in economic difficulty because of this wrong attitude and action. Things were not running successfully and there was not much prosperity abroad. Much investment had taken place but there had been little by way of returns.  All their expectations were falling apart and nothing was working to their advantage.

3/. THE CHALLENGE WAS TO RESPOND TO THE DIVINE DIRECTIVE – vv7-11

The summons is to put the Lord first and get on with building the divine sanctuary. If they took the time to truly honour the Lord they would soon discover that the curse would be lifted off the ground and their labours and there would come into being a glorious condition of increase and growth.

CONCLUSION

Everyone becomes stirred and moves into action – vv12-15. A new zeal and enthusiasm was abroad which must have gladdened the heart of the Lord. A united state existed to get this thing on the way.
