Thought for the Day follows an instructive theme for everyday of the Week. To be able to achieve and succeed in daily living we require strength. One may have all the ‘know-how’ but have little or no strength to perform and do. It is imperative that you have the life and energy physically, spiritually, morally, mentally etc., so that you see things coming to pass that will gladden your days. The Scriptures are present to guide you into knowing how to know strength of an incredible nature be yours to achieve.

STRENGTH – A Divine PossessionGenesis 1:1; 17:1

It is inspiring to know that one of the names given to God is ‘EL’, ‘the Strong One’. The universe exists and continues to do do because He of His omnipotence. Isaiah remarks as he views the heavens and the stars utters: through the greatness of his might and because he is strong in power, not one is missing or lacks anything” Isaiah 40:25. Yes, the world in which we live and the planets all around declare the greatness of God in terms of power. Mankind as a whole needs to come to appreciate its enormity and to discover that He seeks to share it with His creatures. He who sustains all things is around is present to sustain and secure you.

Jeremiah the prophet had to come to discover this factor and comes to the bold admission that He is up to any situation. He proclaims: “Alas, Lord God, Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! There is nothing too hard or wonderful for you” – Jer 32: 17. Although he lived in difficult times for his people, he knew God would see them through and bring them into a good place.

You must realise that God has not changed. There is no diminishing of His life or ability. What He has done He is still up to in every generation. If you can believe and trust in His and His words of promise, there will come tokens of His greatness within your life and experience. He is up to proving sufficient to all of His creation and creatures, especially those who are now His family. So begin to expect the action of God as the Strong One in your life because He is with you to perform on your behalf.

You don’t choose your family. They are God’s gift to you, as you are to them. Desmond Tutu

Never lose Sight of Jesus

The safety and true blessedness for every Christian is a fixed gaze and devotion to Christ. What is certain is that He will ever be present and will never fail to live up to your expectations. Building an accord with Him is the secret of living and He calls you to turn your attention to Him and firmly place your faith in Him always. He will lead you all the way and bring you to His everlasting habitations.

1/. Oh, Pilgrim bound for the heav’nly land, Never lose sight of Jesus;
He’ll lead you gently with loving hand, Never lose sight of Jesus.

Never lose sight of Jesus,  Never lose sight of Jesus;
Day and night He will lead you right, Never lose sight of Jesus.

2/. Whene’er you’re tempted to go astray, Never lose sight of Jesus;
Press onward, upward, the narrow way, Never lose sight of Jesus. [Chorus]

3/.  Tho’ dark the pathway may seem ahead, Never lose sight of Jesus;
“I will be with you,” His word hath said, Never lose sight of Jesus; [Chorus]

4/.  When death is knocking outside the door, Never lose sight of Jesus;
Till safely landed on Canaan’s shore, Never lose sight of Jesus. [Chorus]

This is only a short chapter of six verses but it expresses untold delight at what was occurring. It was a new and specific day in the purposes of God where He was manifesting His goodness to His people in an abundant manner and so they had every reason to praise and thank the Lord. Their voices and inward being were joyfully singing as His favour was displayed by His abiding presence, the ministry of His comfort, strength, salvation and multiple deeds. They had every reason to be thrilled because the future outlook could not be better.

As a result of the breaking in upon them in such blessedness they could now bear witness further afield. The world around needed to know about the change of their fortunes – “Tell the world what He has done. Oh, how mighty He is!” – vv4, 5. Having been switched on to experience the blessing of the Lord it was not simply for them alone. The opportunity and obligation was on them to broadcast it far and near that the Lord had intervened and transformed their situation. An evangelistic message had to be sent to other nations so that they may get an understanding on the nature of God.

The Christian Church is to know in a marked degree the outstanding benevolence of God through Christ. As we taste the amazing goodness of the Lord we then must open our lips in song to praise the bountiful Giver. As we continually know the input of His generosity we should be in an upbeat mood to praise Him and let the world be aware of what it means to be related to the Lord. Enjoy experiencing the rich ministry of the Lord in your life now and acquaint those around you that it is a delightful thing to know the Lord and His blessing.
