Thought for the Day follows an instructive theme for everyday of the Week. We now turn our thoughts to another important factor if there is to be positive dealing with God. The word is ‘assurance’ a spiritual reality to be entered into if one is to know God to live a true life and extract the best from God. In coming to know Go through His Word, Spirit and Jesus Christ, the min an heart is to be possessed with sure knowledge of truth an things that matter. Doubt and uncertainty is removed as the blessing of heavenly convictions move in and take over life.

 CONCERNING ETERNAL DESTINY – John 14: 1-3; 2 Cor 5:1-10; 1 John 3: 1-3

It is good to be aware of that one can become certain and assured with regard to what lies beyond the grave and will be at the end of time. The Christian Faith is not lacking in knowledge and blessed convictions on such. Christ, Paul and John the apostle spoke an wrote with absolute confidence on it. Christ in John 14 declares one of the main reasons He is returning back to heaven to His disciples. He says: “I go to prepare a place for you”. Paul asserts: “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, not made with hands, eternal in the heavens”. And it is John who says: ”that when He shall appear, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is”.

For the Christian, the hopes and prospects could not be better or brighter. Those who have died trusting in Christ are assured they will be raised from the dead, receiving a new, heavenly body that will be suited to living in the environment of heaven. This is what is taught in 1 Cor 15. That which was taken at death will be more than matched by something infinitely superior. The assurance is to be observed in Christ’s resurrection, ascension and rule in heaven. He is but the forerunner and prophecy of something greater at the end of time. This is spoken in Scripture as a sure hope.

Everything is rapidly moving forward to this great consummation and every Christian should be living in anticipation of it. The kingdom of heaven has already begun in countless hearts as people have made Christ as Saviour and King. It is to become visible when He returns, when the dead saints will be raised to immortal life with new bodies along with Christians who are alive. The Church will be One with Christ, all furnished with brand new bodies to be and share with Christ for eternity. All is to end well and registers a glorious new beginning.

Some people think they are big shots because they are always exploding.

Men an pins are useless when they lose their heads.

Wonderful love does Jesus show

The great revelation of the Bible is the nature of God as made known in Jesus Christ. Most apparent, dynamic an relevant is the love of God. In birth, life and death He visibly expressed it so man is in no doubt whatsoever that He is exceedingly loved by God. This is what the hymnist expresses and all should come and taste of it in all of its fullness. Man is surrounded by it!

1/. Wonderful love does Jesus show, wonderful grace He does bestow,
Wonderful peace in Him I know, bless His holy name!

Wonderful, wonderful Jesus! Wonderful, wonderful Jesus!
Oh! He’s a wonderful Saviour! Bless His holy name!
2/. Wonderful! He is always near, wonderful! I have naught to fear,
Wonderful is His voice so dear, bless His holy name! – refrain! …
3/. Wonderful help does Jesus send, wonderful keeping to the end,
Wonderful is this constant Friend, bless His holy name! – refrain
4/.  Wonderful day, so pure, so bright, wonderful living in His sight,
Wonderful, round me all is light, bless His holy name! – refrain

Although the wicked appear to have a great deal of success the time will come when they will be defeated and perish – vv7-9, 11. What they seem to enjoy is temporary and short-lived. This is not so for those who have been planted by the Lord. The life and consummation of the godly is of a different character.  They are placed in the proper environment to prosper and be fruitful – see Psalm 1. There is something of permanence, maturity and pleasure to be discovered in their lives and ministries. Really, there is no comparison with the wicked!

They are spoken of as being tall and strong, flourishing in every way and still remaining full of life, productivity and satisfaction even in old age. They do not suffer from dissipation and deterioration but later life finds them in a more prosperous state. The reason why this is so is because the Lord is tending over their welfare and future and so cannot help but abound. He is ever present to give His major input in every way and every day. They are a testimony to His affection and attention and His ability to make life successful to the end.

There is no need for you to be anxious about your life and future. As long as you are properly situated by God and are the subject of His constant ministry, all will be right and end up well. You can look forward to being blessed and fruitful as you permit Him to inspire and direct your life. Remember, He has much to create and cultivate in and through you. He places the grace and gift in you that enable you to achieve your maximum potential.
