Thought for the Day follows an instructive theme for everyday of the Week. We now turn our thoughts to another important factor if there is to be positive dealing with God. It is essentially ‘love’. This is a crucial factor if there is to be fruitful and worthwhile relation with an for God. Nothing of any worth will be known or accomplished without a vibrant and close accord with Him in this all essential.

Love – The Supreme Virtue

The clear, emphatic teaching that comes through the Scriptures, God’s Word, is that love is to be considered the supreme quality for any being to possess and portray. Nobody is left in any doubt as to what should be the crowning and all essential virtue to be made manifest and obvious. It is the highest excellence to be known. Paul categorizes three qualities: faith, hope an love, but the greatest of the three is love – 1 Cor 13:13. It is a quiet, unassuming nature that does not make a showy display but leaves its fragrance and radiance in its wake.

This is a consistent theme of the scriptures both in the Old and new Testaments and needs to be underlined and declare throughout Christendom. The convincing testimony to the reality and genuineness of whether a person is a Christian I detailed by Christ right here. “By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another” – John 13:35. The true, authenticate hallmark that a person is really a believer in and follower of Christ is in this distinguishable quality.

In a world that is full of hate generate by the evil one, Satan, the opposite has to be in evidence thus revealing who is the inspiration of the life. Christ’s residency and presidency will be apparent in the disclosure of His loving, heavenly passion. Make sure this is now the inward driving factor at the heart of your being, belief and behaviour.

Why should I Charge my Soul with Care?

Sometimes it is a good healing to mind an heart to speak and sing to yourself especially when it is properly focused Here is an instance When overloaded and over-bothered concerning things that are happening in your life an affairs of a negative order Then is the time to break out in faith an song with the words of this hymn. Instead of being weighted down with worry and anxiety over matters, throw them over to your Lord. Do what Peter the apostle called you to do: “Casting all your care upon Him, for he careth for you?” – 1 Peter 5:7. He is the great Burden-Bearer. He can carry both you and your load!

1/. Why should I charge my soul with care? The wealth of every mine
Belongs to Christ, God’s Son and Heir, And He’s a Friend of mine.

Yes, He’s a Friend of mine, And He with me doth all things share;
Since all is Christ’s, and Christ is mine, Why should I have a care?
For Jesus is a Friend of mine.

2/. The silver moon, the golden sun, The countless stars that shine,
Are His alone, yes, every one, And He’s a Friend of mine – Refrain

3/. He daily spreads a glorious feast, And at His table dine
The whole creation, man and beast, And He’s a Friend of mine – Refrain

4/. And when he comes in bright array, And leads the conqu’ring line,
It will be glory then to say, That He’s a Friend of mine – Refrain

QUOTES TO NOTE – marriage

My worldview, my philosophy, my attitudes, my relationships, my parenting, my marriage – everything has been transformed by my relationship with Christ –  Lee Strobel

A SAD TALE AND END – 2 Kings 17

The history of the northern kingdom Israel unfolded with its ultimate demise because of the wickedness of the kings and people. They were subjected to being overtaken and exiled to the land of Assyria without a land to call their own or without any seeming identity or future. They had forfeited the right to possess and live in the land because of their failure to honour God and His laws.  The record has it in v7 – “This disaster came upon the nation of Israel because the people worshiped other gods, thus sinning against the Lord their God who had brought them safely out of their slavery in Egypt.” He had every reason to punish them in this way because of their persistent attitudes and actions.

Throughout the whole period the Lord had sought to stay this execution. He had sent some fine, courageous men to forewarn them that if they continued in the ways of evil then they would be judged – v13. There had been a refusal to listen and so the final day of reckoning came when they were expelled and made to serve a foreign power. They had left Him with no other option but to bar and exclude them from the choice inheritance. It could have been different!

It is to be realized that sin does mean that people will forfeit many blessings that could have been theirs from God. It is impossible to reject God and His ways and not suffer in some way. The principle still applies today. There should be no abuse of God’s grace and when He speaks into our lives pointing out the wrongs that must be repented of and turned from there should be immediate, positive response to His call. It is in your interest to always seek what He desires then the blessing on your life and future will be safeguarded.
