DAILY MESSAGE

Take serious note, the Lord is constantly seeking to open up your life and work, not to close it down. In no way does He seek to bring a closure motion on your existence but desires that you will move ever onward and outward in your being and achieving choice factors of a divine quality. Like a tree, He desires that you should break out in life in blossom and fruit and as the flower, to bloom with a beautiful form and beauty, being fruitful, too. You have a picture of this presented to you in Psalm 1 and as you live within the psalm and the psalm lives in you, there is the birth and growth of a wonderful creation. .As you live, move and have your being in Him so shall you incessantly break forth and manifest the goodness and glory of God on an increased scale.

SACRED SONGS

Silent Night

On Christmas Eve in 1818 A blizzard stranded the tiny village of Ogledorf, nestled in the Austrian . mountains. That same day the people of St. Nicholas’ church found their organ broken So the priest and organist began composing a song that could be sung without  An organ yet beautiful enough to express their Christmas joy.

All day and all night long they worked And at midnight the gentle carol Silent Night was born.
The pure clear tones echoed through the hills – And the world has been captured by the beauty of that simple song ever since.

When this beautiful carol is sung it seems to introduce and inspire a sense of peace and tranquillity. It appears to capture the mind, heart and spirit in such a way that it is like a choice balm affording real hope and consolation. Of course, that is so when Christ the Saviour is known not simply as a babe in a manger but as a Saviour and Lord who is now in the present to be experienced and enjoyed.

Silent night, holy night! All is calm, all is bright.
Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child. Holy infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace, Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night! Shepherds quake at the sight.
Glories stream from heaven afar Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia,
Christ the Saviour is born! Christ the Saviour is born

Silent night, holy night! Son of God love’s pure light.
Radiant beams from Thy holy face With dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus Lord, at Thy birth Jesus Lord, at Thy birth

QUOTES TO NOTE – CHRISTMAS

Every gift which is given, even though is be small, is in reality great, if it is given with affection – Pindar

DAILY MEDITATIONS

A FOOLISH ACTION – 1 Kings 20: 31- 43

Having experienced two great victories through the goodness of God over Syria the king behaves in a senseless manner. His opponent reckoned it would be beneficial to throw himself on the kindness of the king although he had willfully initiated the conflict. In no way would he have shown any leniency to the Israelites yet he believed he would be softly treated. Ahab when approached by this evil factor does not deal with them as God expected that he should have done in removing them completely from the scene. It was an opportunity of showing loyalty to the One who had intervened and saved. But he did his own thing.

There is no seeking out the prophet to discover further if there was any change on God’s part. He wilfully does his own thing and leaves God out of the proceedings. But the Lord was not going to allow him to go free from this senseless action. The prophet is sent with a severe sentence of judgment against him and the people because of the failure to fully fulfil God’s will. Ahab is sentenced to death and the nation is to suffer too. No wonder he went home angry and sullen – v43.  There was a terrible price to pay for such a stupid procedure.

When God gives opportunity to act with sense and to proceed in righteousness with a situation and there is a failure to do so, the inevitable occurs. There is the displeasure of the Lord and the reaping of the folly in terms of judgment. No one can afford to sideline Him and think they can get away with it. It is essential to make sure that what you always do is what He has desired and designed. Do not treat Him with contempt but make doubly certain that your ways and works accord with His determined will. He is open to you to receive His counsel at all times.
