Never forget that the LORD has not only given you a mind to think with but also with capacity to meditate, also. It is a great gift to be able ponder and linger over truth and revelation that will help you produce a lifestyle that accords with His purpose and destiny. One great reason for the existence of the Holy Scriptures is that you may have something continually at hand that you can read and muse on which will shape your desires, belief system, character and make you an individual of true faith and confidence. This is not created or cultivated by self-philosophy but is formed by the inspiration of truth and knowledge that comes from God. He wants to see you become an outstanding person that He has planned you to b: to occupy and fulfil a great role in this life and prepare you for ruler-ship in the eternal one. Nothing could be wiser or better!

Now I Belong to Jesus

The hymn, “Now I Belong To Jesus” written by Norman Clayton speaks about the truth of the mystical union that exists between Christ and the believer – Christ in the believer and the believer in Christ. Who can fathom the mystery of a mortal believer’s spirit being united with the divine Christ -a glorious relationship that begins for the believer at the moment of genuine response to the call of Christ and one that will last for eternity.

Norman Clayton was born on January 22, 1903 in Brooklyn, New York, the ninth of ten children. He was converted at the age of six in the South Brooklyn Gospel Church, where his mother had been a foundation member … and was church organist by the age of 12. He kept up the role of church organist for the rest of his life. Clayton’s profession was in the building industry, but he also created his own publishing house, Gospel Songs, which was later absorbed into the Rodeheaver Company. In 1942 he was working with Jack Wyrtzen’s Word of Life organization, providing music for both the radio broadcasts and crusade meetings. That same year Clayton wrote his most popular gospel song, words and music, “Now I Belong to Jesus.”

He has authored and composed numerous other fine gospel hymns, but “Now I Belong To Jesus” is still his most widely used song. This inspiring gospel song first appeared in Word of Life Melodies No. 1 in 1943. Mr. Clayton writes that one of his greatest thrills in life was hearing a 10 year old deaf girl sing his song at a camp for handicapped children.

Now I Belong To Jesus  Jesus, my Lord will love me forever,
From Him no pow’r of evil can sever, He gave His life to ransom my soul; Now I belong to Him;

Now I belong to Jesus, Jesus belongs to me,
Not for the years of time alone, But for eternity.

Once I was lost in sin’s degradation, Jesus came down to bring me salvation,
Lifted me up from sorrow and shame, Now I belong to Him; Chorus

Joy floods my soul for Jesus has saved me, Freed me from sin that long had enslaved me
His precious blood, He came to redeem, Now I belong to Him; Chorus

Be true to yourself, help others, make each day your masterpiece, make friendship a fine art, drink deeply from good books – especially the Bible, build a shelter against a rainy day, give thanks for your blessings and pray for guidance every day. John Wooden

THE STAIN OF SIN – Matthew 27: 1-31

When people use the expression ‘My hands are clean’ they imply and indicate that they are not guilty of having done anything wrong and so they are not in any way stained by sin. The psalmist states that those who would have access and fellowship with God must possess ‘clean hands’ – Psalm 24: 4. This emphasizes that the person is free from transgression and wicked conduct. Hands are used to perform with and are symbolic of deeds either good or bad. The need is to make sure that the hands do not become dirty or defiled by any corrupt act.

Pilate, in the account, called for a bowl of clean water to wash his hands with and sought to give the impression by performing the washing ritual he would be clear of condemning Christ. What a foolish idea! It seems that he made his sin all the more pronounced! In no way could he be rid of the guilt by this measure. He was at fault because he failed to declare Christ without blame and should have released Him. As governor and judge his duty was to hold to the cause and claim of righteousness. He has gone down in history for this notorious evil deed.

Never can anyone free themselves from blame and shame by resorting to wrong procedures. There is only one way to be cleansed from sin and it is through repentance before God and a believing in the atoning sacrifice of Christ that sin can be forgiven and forgotten. Your hands only can be clean when you accept the means of cleansing that God has provided. Only the blood of Christ can cleanse – 1 John 1: 7. Having been washed, make sure you keep clean!
