A GOLDEN PROMISE from the Bible

A sacred promise from Malachi 4:2 – “And you shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall”. The late C.H. Spurgeon wrote: “Yes, when the sun shines, the sick quit their chambers, and walk abroad to breathe the fresh air. When the sun brings spring and summer the cattle quit their stalls, and seek pasture in the higher Alps. Even thus, when we have conscious fellowship with our Lord, we leave the stall of despondency, and walk abroad in the fields of holy confidence. We ascend to the mountains of joy, and feed on sweet pasturage which grows nearer heaven than the provender of carnal men. To ‘go forth’ and to ‘grow up’ is a double promise. O my soul, be eager to enjoy both blessings!” The summons of the Lord is to get up and moving out into a new state of freshness and to witness the delight in maturing into something bigger and better in and through Him and for Him. Why be in the enclosed stall when you can be under the open heaven drinking and feeding on fresh provision?

Thought for the Day

One of the great things about the LORD, He is the The Stronghold of the Universe and of His Church Family. You can turn to and rely on Him to render His strength and support at all times and nerve you to face and deal with all the demands of life. He can and will turn you into a fortress of strength so that you can stand yourself in real energy and power. It does not matter what may attack and seek to overcome, at your disposal is His all wisdom and might to counter any offensive and opposition. Just like, Jerusalem, you will become a veritable mount Zion armed and capable not only of withstanding agencies seeking your demise, but to move out and conquer all forms of spiritual opposition. You will also serve as a stronghold to others so that they may find refuge when under pressure and discover the cause of your secret strength and sufficiency.

QUOTES TO NOTE – Desmund Tutu

Because forgiveness is like this: a room can be dank because you have closed the windows, you’ve closed the curtains. But the sun is shining outside, and the air is fresh outside. In order to get that fresh air, you have to get up and open the window and draw the curtains apart.

FRUITFUL EVIDENCE – Matthew 7: 12-23

The Lord reveals that it is possible to give true evidence as to the reality of Christian life and experience. It is known as the ‘fruit test’ – vv16-20. These verses ably and aptly teach that you can discover whether a person is a genuine believer in God by the character of his nature and conduct. There is no need to be deceived in this matter. Just as it is credible to know the difference between a good and bad fruit tree, so with regard to people who make godly profession. The real indication is to be viewed by the harvest produced and evident as noted in their nature and behaviour.

He is underlining the fact that each and everyone must make sure that they are found in the right category. If fruit of a quality order is to be known, that is of a divine standard, then it means that the whole inward disposition of a person must be right and good. It is not accepting the ideas and opinions of men but knowing for certainty what God regards as good and right. At the end of proceedings, it is He that will make the judgment. He will determine whether the tree and fruit are ultimately destined to be harvested or destroyed. This is serious business that must be given utmost thought and consideration.

You need to take a genuine look at yourself, to assess whether you can be classified as a good or bad tree. Do not make assumptions about this issue.  Rather be certain that your inward condition is as God desires and what you are revealing in attitude and action will pass this test. The opportunity now is for you to make the grade as detailed by Christ. He is committed, as the divine horticulturist, to create and produce the best in and through you.
