A GOLDEN PROMISE from the Bible

A Daily Promise

Christ, during His ministry made a promise for all time and succeeding generations, yes, to you: “He said, “Come unto Me you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest” – Matthew 11: 29. Of course, the reason why He suffered on the Cross was that you might be forgiven and freed from your sins. Having paid the debt for your sins, as you receive Him as your Saviour, so there is no need to be loaded further with them as to guilt or worry about future judgment. But he rose from the dead to become your Lord and to take authority over your daily living and future. Today, He is with you to assure that He is at hand to deal with everything, so the blessing of respite and relaxation is yours, now. There is no need for a waste on your energies or emotions because He is in charge and as you carry out His simple directions, so peace, fortitude will ever present. You will be ever renewed and be a person that can cope with everything because He is with you as your REST.

Thought for the Day

The LORD has not only personally won a victory at the Cross and by His resurrection, He is inside and alongside of you today to do so in your life and ministry. By His, love, wisdom, strength and power He fortifies you so that you can follow in His tracks and so daily triumph above all your spiritual foes and circumstances. Paul did say: “Thanks be to God who always causeth us to triumph” – 2 Cor 2: 14. You can leave behind a trail of triumph because of His daily inputs and operations and so engage in glorious celebrations unto Him. You have to learn to steal a march on your enemy, gird yourself with all that Christ supplies and you will know what it is to experience continual conquests to his glory.. In so doing you set a standard for others to emulate.

QUOTES TO NOTE – William Morris

The true secret of happiness lies in taking a genuine interest in all the details of daily life.

MEETING ANOTHER’S DESIRE – 2 Samuel 23: 13-17

What a choice thing to read of the account of David’s mighty men who broke through the garrison of the Philistines to meet the desire of their leader! It was a very challenging thing to do. David expressed the longing for a drink from the well at Bethlehem that had been the source of satisfaction in his earliest years, and his warriors overheard it. Here was an opportunity to prove their love and loyalty to him and so they performed this daring deed.

Having succeeded in their mission and presented the refreshing water to David, he valued their love and daring. He did something rather unusual: instead of drinking it, he poured it out on the ground as a drink offering to the Lord. By doing this he was elevating the action performed and expressing gratitude to the Lord for such men of character and devotion that would go to such lengths for him.

We need to be on the look out for opportunities to fulfil the rare longings of those around us. Paul does state in Galatians 6: 10 to “do good to all men, especially those of the household of faith.” There are times when we need to step up our commitment to people within the Christian ranks and let them know that we are truly and fully devoted to them. The best way is in some thoughtful and challenging act on their behalf that leaves them utterly convinced of our love. Of course, the motivation must be pure so that we do not perform simply seek to draw attention to our deed or us. It is nice so see the heroics and dynamics evident to God’s glory!
