A GOLDEN PROMISE from the Bible

A Daily Promise

It is imperative that you know and live in a spirit and attitude of hope. God is called as the God of hope and has the capacity to in spire His elect family with real assurance and certitude whatever the negative conditions may be that exist. So you can, as you live in accord with Him, be free from despair and know true hope at all times. He gave this factor to Abraham and as a consequence he experienced incredible things. Paul writes of this man that at one hundred, “He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God” – Romans 4:20. He trusted God for a miracle baby off Sarah who was ninety! God is calling you to believe in the words of promise given to you and to begin to expect their fulfilment. All you have to do is to believe and He will do the rest. There are some very choice things that are going to occur through the promise, power and providence of the Almighty for you.

Thought for the Day

This is a promise to hold good for you today and throughout your days on earth that will inspire and energize you life and devotion: “The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me” – Psalm 138: 8. He has His loving eyes and hands upon your life, shaping and forming as He desires and desires and using you as He chooses. You have come a long way with the Lord and His loving-kindness has ever been your lot and His daily input of grace and blessing yours, too. In no way are you the finished factor yet, but wisely, skilfully, lovingly and continuously He oversees and will in the ultimate be satisfied, and so will you. At no time will He forsake but be ever- present influencing all so that you will make the grade in His sight and be promoted in His eternal kingdom.

QUOTES TO NOTE – Abraham Lincoln

In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.

GOD’S KIND OF LEADER – 2 Samuel 23: 1-7

David knew that he had been called by God to be the leader of His people. Here, at the end of his days and reign, he affirmed that the reason why he was the sovereign over Israel was due to the fact that the Lord had placed him in that situation and anointed him for it – v1. There was gratefulness in his heart that he had been enabled by him to fill this posting and to serve the Lord in an admirable manner. He had made his mistakes, but overall, he had known a successful reign.

But then he mentioned the fact that the Spirit of the Lord, the God of Israel spoke to him on the critical issue of leadership – vv2, 3. The fact that it is stated twice underlines the importance of it. This is what God considers to be primary in those who would lead and rule people: those in the Church and the world at large – “He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God”. Those who have true reverence for God will make sure they always act in righteousness and fairness to all people. In courting the favour of God they will be sure that they govern in truth, love and righteousness. The result of this is in a very real blessing – v4.

If we are in leadership, we must heed this admonition and so conduct ourselves under His watchful eye to gain His acceptance, approval and blessing. Let us pray also that God will raise up people who will be God’s kind of leaders; people who will act in accord with His standards and requirements, thus glorifying God and advantaging those whom they lead and govern. He who calls to leadership gives both the enabling graces and gifts to become effective in character and charisma.
