A GOLDEN PROMISE from the Bible

A Daily Promise

To have someone beside you when you feel lonely and facing a major crisis is a tremendous blessing and advantage. To know they are there to rely on and give helpful assistance is an immense boon. You are somewhat strengthened and feel stronger and more capable of dealing with the difficult circumstances or people. Know that the one who is the All Sustaining presence, yes, is the LORD, the ever-living and present One. There is no one better or greater than He for being inside and alongside to render His incredible support. Trust the word He has given. He has said it and it has never been re-called: “I will never leave you or forsake you” – Hebrews 13:5. He will not change His mind or commitment, so you rest upon the fact that, above all, He will be with and stand by you whatever your lot may be. He will not fall apart and He will save you from falling apart. Knowing that He is there always is all you need to know!

Thought for the Day

When you received Christ into your being you received the gift of Eternal Life. Jesus Christ is Eternal Life and as you learn to know and take you from Him so the life of eternity will inspire and throb within you and will be manifest. You are called upon to live by the life of another, Christ’s own pulsating power and dynamic inspiration. You are not waiting for Eternal Life, it is yours now and you must draw upon it continuously and allow it to be the driving authority and influence on a daily basis, so you will be different and make a difference. Do not be content at trying to exist by your own natural life and gifts but receive in a continual fashion from the LORD for He is the LORD of life and blessing. You do not need anything or anyone else to fill any gap because He is All-Sufficient to meet and minister to and through you at all times. Remember what John said: “He that hath the Son hath life” – 1 John 5:12. You are not waiting for the gift, ETERNAL LIFE IS NOW YOURS!

Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don’t lose faith.

A REAL CRISIS – 2 Samuel 21

This is not an easy passage to understand just as it was not an easy experience for David and his people to pass through. For three years there had been a terrible and awful famine throughout the land. It would have been a bad thing for one year, but to think of it persisting over such a long period must have been difficult to endure. The thing must have been a major crisis for everyone and brought a tremendous amount of suffering and questioning.

In inquiring of the Lord on the matter (and that was the best and right thing to do), it was discovered that the cause of it was due to the fact that Saul had shed innocent blood, that of the Gibeonites – vv1,2. David raised the matter with the Gibeonites and they replied by demanding the death of seven sons of Saul’s lineage –v6. It was with sadness that he allowed this to occur but knew that atonement was required. After their hanging, David did a kind thing by gathering the bones of Saul, Jonathan and of those that been hanged and buried them together – vv13, 14. And so the famine was lifted off the land.

At times, there may arise dry experiences within our lives, when we suffer from a spiritual, physical and material angle. The Lord must be sought as to why, and when we know, we must be big enough to answer the challenge no matter how demanding. The Lord is able and willing to restore so that we can once more flow in blessing and enable us to make greater progress.
