Welcome to this Christian Website which has now been going for a number of years. Over 135,000 people have visited it since 2006. On the left hand side of the introductory page is a host of subjects and material that have been placed during this time and is there for your interest, study and perusal.

I feel it is time and right to change the format and to present day by day something a little simpler and trust will benefit and bless those who visit it. It will consist of A Golden Promise from the Scriptures, Wisdom that Works by Bob Stevenson, Choice Quotations and daily Meditations, working through the whole Bible, something to focus your mind on are included that can be developed more fully by you. I trust you will find such refreshing and helpful.

“But you, Yahweh, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head” – Psalm 3:3

The Hebrew word for shield in this promise is a substance so thick that it is likened unto the scaly hide of a crocodile. God is our shield and our protector. Nothing can get through His defences. Our God and Father is also our glory, which is the Hebrew word ‘kabowd’, which means a weighty honor that He places on us simply because we belong to Him.

I love the NLT Bible translation for this verse…  ‘3 But you, O Lord, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high.’  God protects us, He bestows His own glory on us, and He lifts up our head when we are discouraged.

When I think of the last part of this promise, I picture a child standing face to face with his father, with his head held down in discouragement. The father not wanting his child to be discouraged, gently puts his finger on the little boy’s chin and raises his head until their eyes meet.

THE PERFECT WIFE – PART 1 – Rev. Bob Stevenson

“If you can find truly good wife, she is worth more than precious gems!  Her husband can trust her, and she will richly satisfy his needs, She will not hinder him but help him all her life …. ..(Be sure to read this whole passage)

Read: Proverbs 31:10,—2-4

You couldn‘t be blamed for thinking that this picture of the perfect wife was put together by a man. Alter all, who wouldn‘t want a partner of such amazing qualities and virtues? So it is not without surprise to find out that these words were in fact penned by no less than King Lemuel himself. However, his descriptions of the perfect wife did not come as a result of his own observations or experience but from his mother.

This incredible lady taught these things whilst her son was still young enough to be sitting on her knee. Her observations were so well communicated that he never forgot one single detail.

Here is a mother who wanted the very best for her son in the choice of a life partner. What better person could there be of the female kind, to instruct her son in the whiles, ways and intimacies, not only of her own gender, but of the opposite sex as well!

It’s as if God didn’t want the incredible list of virtues He required to be tabulated, by the self interested bias of a man, but from the one person who would have his best interests at heart — his mother!

Tomorrow we will discover what those virtues were so be prepared for some surprises!

QUOTES TO NOTE – Harriet Beecher Stove

In all ranks of life the human heart yearns for the beautiful; and the beautiful things that God makes are his gift to all alike.

DIVINE DIRECTION – 2 Samuel 2: 1-11

It was at this point that David is in need of divine guidance as things had suddenly and dramatically changed in the removal of the royal household and there was not a healthy state with regard to the nation’s situation with the recent defeat suffered at the hands of the Philistines. Divine wisdom taught him that the best thing to do was to pray and see what the Lord had to say. He asked a question of Him: “Shall I go up to any of the cities of Judah? – v1. There was a submission to the Lord as to what action to take and which direction to go.

On this occasion how quick the Lord was in responding to his request because He told him the exact place to go, Hebron. When he arrived he discovered that the Lord has already sorted things out there and the people were prepared to receive him. In fact they went further: they anointed him as their king over Judah – v4. This was but the first step and stage until his ultimate enthronement over all Israel. David must have been very grateful for the confirmation that was but a gradual procedure to the total rule of God’s people. He was prepared to move steadily in accordance with God’s timing.

The God that guided then still affords His guidance to us. We do come to moments and stages in our lives and callings when we require the definite revelation of God’s mind. It is assuring to know that He is ready to give specific knowledge of where we are to go and what we are to do, and as we follow it through, shall find His confirmatory workings. Put yourself at His disposal and He will lead you aright. If you are in dilemma at this time, make sure that you seek the Lord and discover His mind purpose and will.

Here is a prophecy of what lsrael was to become as a nation because of their flagrant and blatant sinning. They were to be reduced in status as a people and become a ‘wanderer.’ Not a very wonderful ascription or position to be in as a people in this world. They were now to be relegated and suffer by reason of it. It was to be a totally disadvantage people and the situation would reveal quite a number of factors of disadvantage.

The loss was quite considerable in this particular area because the nationsaround regarded them as a finished unit with no further contribution to life as a whole. They were not to be regarded as a people. They were to be mere nobodies hardly to be reckoned with in the equation of life. It looked as if they were just a problem people with no name or noble ascription. Certainly not Israel, ‘prince, ruler with God.’

It signified the fact that they had no relationship of any kind with anyone, with God or man. They were truly in no man’s land as far as having any vital connections. Wandering means they had no reference or foundation point and so were at the mercy of anyone and everything. A senselessness and emptiness would prevail.

Once they had known abundance and a tremendous amount of material blessings and advantages but now they were to be subjected to real want and need. lt would now be a case of eking out and existence to keep life going. All that had once been enjoyed would be forgotten in the face of hardship and difficulty. It was to be a case of trying to make ends meet under very strained conditions. They had nothing really to call their own.

They were exposed to all kinds of threats, dangers and uncertainties. Who could they trust? Where could they place their confidence? lt would be a period of untold wondering, doubt and fear as they moved around. This God-forsaken state would put them into all kind of perilous situations. All the future would be reduced to the hopeful mercy of others and circumstances.

As to their future, there seemed to be none. The prospects from a naturalstandpoint looked grim and foreboding. Thankfully, the Lord gave some stars of hope in the dark sky in terms of sacred promise regarding renewal. But wandering was to be an aimless way of life for this divine people.

If there is no walking with and living for God this is what happens now in aspiritual sense. Better be a pilgrim or rule with God than a wanderer.
