Rev. E. Anderson

Welcome to this Christian Website which has now been going for a number of years. Over 135,000 people have visited it since 2006. On the left hand side of the introductory page is a host of subjects and material that have been placed during this time and is there for your interest, study and perusal.

I feel it is time and right to change the format and to present day by day something a little simpler and trust will benefit and bless those who visit it. It will consist of A Golden Promise from the Scriptures, Wisdom that Works by Bob Stevenson, Choice Quotations and daily Meditations, working through the whole Bible, something to focus your mind on are included that can be developed more fully by you. I trust you will find such refreshing and helpful.

“But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel  after those days, says Yahweh: I will put my law in their inward parts, and in their heart will I write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people” – Jeremiah 31:33

In this promise, the Lord tells Israel that a day is coming where He will place His very law in their inward parts and write it on their hearts. No longer will they struggle to walk in God’s plan and purpose for them because His plan and purpose will be inside of them.

When Jesus died and was buried and rose from the dead, He brought in a completely new covenant where He exchanged our life for His life. Everything that Jesus had, became ours. The law of our God has now been written on our hearts because our old life has died and our new life is hid with Christ in God.

Because of Jesus, His God has become our God, and we have become His people. What a glorious promise and the fulfilment of the new covenant that God spoke of in Jeremiah’s day. We are not separate from God and His ways. He lives in us and through us by the power of His Holy Spirit. We can rest in this amazing truth. He has written His law on our hearts!

CORRUPTING POWER – Rev. Bob Stevenson

”With good men in authority, the people rejoice; but with the wicked in power they groan…..A just king gives stability to his nation, but one who demands bribes destroys it”.

Read: Proverbs 29:2-4

As I have previous quoted and take this opportunity of repeating myself, ‘Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely’.

At least in a democratic society there are the inbuilt checks and balances of having a government in power balanced by an opposition party. Then there are the regulatory bodies all too ready to hold to account any irregular behaviour in the public and private sector. However, even with these safeguards in place, when the wicked are in power, they can cause untold misery and devastation to the populace they control.

Some of us have lived long enough to recognise such leaders of ill intent even before they have come to ascendancy. I heard recently there

were fifty five million people killed in World War 2 between1939-1945, there were five million Europe alone. This was all because a wicked man supported by wicked minions wanted world domination and to establish his “Thousand year Reich”. How long must it have taken those 55 million families to overcome their sadness and groaning? How, if ever, would it take for them to come to grips with their human loss? Then what about today’s despotic tyrants of nations who hold their people in constant bondage and poverty? When the wicked are in power the people certainly groan — and God takes notice!

QUOTES TO NOTE – Henri Nouwen

When we have nothing to cling to as our own and cease thinking of ourselves as people who must defend privileges, we can open ourselves freely to others with the faithful expectation that our strength will manifest itself in our shared weakness.

We are informed and instructed in v5 that God’s blessing is to be greatly and graciously bestowed on people and the previous statements make it clear on who such is to flow. All want to know and experience, in marked degree and measure, the manifold goodness of the Lord in every way, but there are certain demands that are required for it to be so. The life and character has to be free of all evil and a wholesome relationship with God established. Actions and motivations have to be right, no chasing after false deities and a freedom from lying and hypocrisy. This puts a person in a good and acceptable standing with the Lord.

He is able to give because He is a bounteous God. All belongs to Him as v1 points out – “The earth is the Lord and the fullness thereof.” Out of His infinite grace and abundance He is able to bestow and enrich those whose ways please Him. It is a blessing to be right with Him and for that righteousness to be produced by Him. But then He wills to give so much more as the psalmist discovered. Those that seek Him as underlined in v6 will not lack of His bounty but will be wholly blessed.

We need to realize that whilst we are in this life we must allow ourselves to be tested by the Lord. It is imperative that our manner of life is that which is full of divine integrity, so that we not only receive the acceptance and accreditation, but also, that those around are aware of our spiritual and moral integrity, thus leaving a good witness and testimony for the Lord. As you make your way into His presence today, be assured that He wills to enrich every part of your being and life.
