WELCOME TO THIS CHRISTIAN WEBSITE

Welcome to this Christian Website which has now been going for a number of years. Over 130,000 people have visited it since 2006. On the left hand side of the introductory page is a host of subjects and material that have been placed during this time and is there for your interest, study and perusal.

I feel it is time and right to change the format and to present day by day something a little simpler and trust will benefit and bless those who visit it. It will consist of A Golden Promise from the Scriptures, Wisdom that Works by Bob Stevenson, Choice Quotations and daily Meditations, working through the whole Bible, something to focus your mind on are included that can be developed more fully by you. I trust you will find such refreshing and helpful.

A GOLDEN PROMISE

Colossians 1:12-13

“giving thanks to the Father, who made us fit to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light;  who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love”.

Each one of us were once held captive by the power of darkness before we were set free by the power of Christ and brought into His kingdom. For all who have said ‘yes’ to Jesus, our old life is now in the past tense and our new life in Christ is our present reality… Whether we feel like it is or not.

May the Holy Spirit give us revelation today to know that we have already been translated into the kingdom of our elder brother. The power of darkness has no more hold on us because of our royal position in Christ. We now live in an upside down kingdom, where the last will be first, the weak will be strong, and the poor will inherit the riches of our Father’s kingdom.

I pray that every believer will echo the prayer that Paul prayed in Ephesians that our God and Father would give us the spirit of wisdom and revelation to know Him better. May the eyes of our hearts would be opened so that we could really see the hope of His calling and our glorious inheritance in the saints!

WISDOM THAT WORKS

PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT – Rev. Bob Stevenson

“Giving preferred treatment to rich people is a clear case of selling one’s soul for a piece of bread. Trying to get rich quick is evil and leads to poverty”.

Read: Proverbs 28: 21, 22

Anyone who has raised a family will soon learn the adverse repercussions that preferential treatment can bring. Begin to favour one of your offspring more than another and it won’t be longu are made aware of your favouritism. Siblings soon become aware of any preferential treatment  their brothers or sisters might be receiving.

I grew up during World War 2 when nightly air raid bombings over the UK necessitated us youngsters to be carried into air raid shelters outside our homes, when the sirens would warn of an immanent air attack. My cousin Bill lived with us at the time which meant my mother could only carry one us at a time into the Air Raid Shelter. There was always the chance I that whilst one of us was being transported to the shelter the one left behind could have been killed by the bombing. Throughout the years of almost nightly bombing, my mother adopted the position of no preferential treatment for me, her only son. Without fail she would carry us to the shelter in our order of alternate first place. I have so often admired my mother’s integrity in this matter. How pathetic then, to sell your soul for a much lesser advantage, by giving preferred treatment to some wealthy individual, who at the end of the day, might only give you some meagre morsel.

DAILY MEDITATIONS

LIVING BY DIVINE STRENGTH – Psalm 18

This is a very full and dynamic psalm and one of its emphases is upon ‘the strength of the Lord.’ The confession is made in vv1, 2 that David found more than anything else the Lord to be ‘my strength.’ This admits the source of life and energy on which he lived and succeeded. He found it better to draw on the might and stamina of the Lord because it was more sufficient to enable to achieve the things that needed to be accomplished within his challenging role. He could say in v32, “It is God that girdeth me with strength” and in v39, “For you have girded me with strength unto the battle.”

Because of this divine strengthening he was able to do some extraordinary things – vv29, 34. One of the things he was able to do with such stamina was to run like the deer and be able to scale and manoeuvre in the heights without difficulty – v33. The resource of God was able to accomplish so much more because he had learned the art of living in and off the strength of God. In reliance upon the Lord he discovered a continual input of energy that not only kept him going but made him sufficient for every challenge. He was up to anyone and anything by His enabling power.

This is what Paul found out in his life and work, too – Philippians 4: 13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me.” There comes the added encouragement to us in his letter to the Ephesians: “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might” – 6: 10. Today you need to be tapping into the immense resource of divine strength so that its potential will be released within the course of your being and service – see Isaiah 40:31. All the energy you will ever need is there to make you efficient and effective. Today He would clothe you with His all power so that you may be able to achieve great things for His glory and you’re good.

FURTHER NOTES ON THE MINOR PROPHETS

(6)

THE GREAT LONGINGS OF THE LORD

HOSEA 6

What is evident in this section are the rich, deep consistent desires of the Lord with regard to His people. He does not conceal the truth with respect to His own personal longings with regard to their conduct and future. These are made plain in the words of the prophet. Nothing but the good, choice and best was entertained in His mind and heart concerning them and how He yearned that they would respond to those things that mattered.

(1) HE LONGED FOR A GENUINE CHANGE IN THEM — vv1-5

There is this deep-seated desire that they will truly repent and turn from theirwicked ways. He would even put the words in their minds and hearts saying ‘Let us return to the Lord’ so great is the concern in His being. lf only they will make earnest and honest movement to Him He will be there in a flash to receive and restore. But He knows that anything of that nature that may be revealed is but a flash in the pan; it is short-lived and so there is no hope of anything permanent. It is like morning mist or dew, quick to come and go – v4.

(2) HE LONGED FOR A GRACIOUS DISPOSITION IN THEM – v6

There is this strong desire that some real kindness in spirit would be birthed and expressed in and through them. They had become very callous and hard with no heart or good-will. Their attitude towards one another was brutal and left much to be desired. The process and product of sin had made them hard.

(3) HE LONGED THAT THEY WOULD REALLY KNOW HIM – v6

The sad thing about it all was they had not come to a real knowledge and experience of Him. lf only they had known an intimate fellowship and union with Him things would have been so vastly different. He was not interested in ritual and ceremony but in reality and communion.

(4) HE LONGED TO SEE THEIR FORTUNES ALTERED — v11

It is openly stated in v11 that He “wanted so much to restore the fortunes of my people!” He had no pleasure in seeing them degraded and downtrodden and missing out on the natural blessings of life. The reason why He had made and preserved them as His special possession was that He might see them blessed in every way and made the envy of the nations. He wanted them to be a wonderful testimony to His great goodness so that other nations would become switched on to Him. Even though they had been reduced to such a low condition it was essential for them top know that it was still in His heart to see all restored.

CLIMAX

Knowing that these were the wholesome desires of the Lord should have had some decided effect upon this ancient people for good, but, alas! this was not to be. It has to be remembered that these rich longings still are existent in the Lord for His       people today. It is imperative that we do not disappoint Him. This being so, we shall not be disappointed by Him.
