WELCOME TO THIS CHRISTIAN WEBSITE

Welcome to this Christian Website which has now been going for a number of years. Over 130,000 people have visited it since 2006. On the left hand side of the introductory page is a host of subjects and material that have been placed during this time and is there for your interest, study and perusal.

I feel it is time and right to change the format and to present day by day something a little simpler and trust will benefit and bless those who visit it. It will consist of A Golden Promise from the Scriptures, Wisdom that Works by Bob Stevenson, Choice Quotations and daily Meditations, working through the whole Bible, something to focus your mind on are included that can be developed more fully by you. I trust you will find such refreshing and helpful.

A GOLDEN PROMISE

“For Yahweh will not forsake his people for his great name’s sake, because it has pleased Yahweh to make you a people to himself- 1 Samuel 12: 22

Many people live with an abiding fear that they may be abandoned at any moment. Some of us feel like this because people have let us down in the past while others just don’t live with a deep sense of belonging to anything or anyone.

I love this promise because the LORD is settling the issue once and for all by declaring that He has purposed in His heart to not abandon us because of His own great name’s sake. Isn’t it good news to think that it doesn’t depend on you and your good works… but on Him?

This Bible verse says that God is actually very pleased to make you part of His family and for that reason, and that reason alone, He has promised to always stay close by.

When I read this promise and think that I belong to God it blows my mind. Why does He want me? Why am I so valued to Him? The reality is that it is about His great heart for me and not my ability to earn or deserve His affection. The more that I can believe that it is about God’s love for me and not my love for Him, the more that I will begin to walk in the tangible reality of living in His love every day of my life.

WISDOM THAT WORKS

SILLY TALK – Rev. Bob Stevenson

“Guide a horse with a whip, a donkey with a bridle, and a rebel with a rod to his back! When arguing with a rebel, don’t use foolish arguments as he does. or you will become as foolish as he is! Prick his conceit with silly replies”.

Read: Proverbs 26:3~5

There are occasions in life when we are to take things too seriously. There are some issues that are promoted as warranting some kind of serious comment but in reality it is just journalistic hogwash. Magazines are sold by the thousand and avidly consumed by the multitudes, which are for the most part, full of irrelevant trivia. This trivia we are encouraged to take seriously, just like the rebel in our Proverb, who spouts out utter drivel and then expects those with a modicum of reason and insight, totake him seriously. ln addition to being bereft of reason or logic, the rebel, or fool as the King

James Version titles him, is conceited enough to expect a hearing and no amount of reasoned argument is going to persuade him one way or another.

The only response left open to such a scenario is to reply in like manner with a barrage of equally silly talk. Only then will his balloon of pride be pricked and hopefully he will get the message.

Whatever happens, be sure you don’t get sucked into useless wranglings that produce no positive outcome and leave you exhausted and possibly frustrated. (See Timothy 2:16)

QUOTES TO NOTE – Henri Nouwen

Did I offer peace today? Did I bring a smile to someone’s face? Did I say words of healing? Did I let go of my anger and resentment? Did I forgive? Did I love? These are the real questions. I must trust that the little bit of love that I sow now will bear many fruits, here in this world and the life to come.

DAILY MEDITATIONS

GOD TOUCHED LIVES – 1 Samuel 10: 17-27

It seems that Saul got off to a fabulous start. He reveals a very marked humility as this new calling and position is placed upon him because when they looked for him he could not be found – v21. The awesome responsibility appears to have shook him and so he shied away from the publicity. But the word of knowledge came into operation and revealed where he had hidden and so was brought forth. All this would indicate the fact of how much God was in the business and seeking to make known to him that His sacred hand was upon his life for good.

He is faced up with regard to his divine commitment and a book is recorded concerning the divine statutes and requirements for him to read, meditate on and obey and he is made aware of his sacred trust and accountability. It is laid up before the Lord as a permanent memorial – v25.  At the end of the day he went home and it states in v26 with “valiant men . . . whose hearts God had touched.” God gave him men of strength and spirit that were one with him to achieve the divine purpose.

What is required today are people whose lives God has spiritually and supernaturally touched with His presence and power. When this occurs it should make a difference to Christendom and the impact felt wider a-field in the world at large. Let your life come under the gracious hand of God, even now, so that you will be able to make a dynamic difference all round. He still is in the business of touching lives with the purpose of making them influential for good and extend His cause greatly through them.
