Rev. E. Anderson

Welcome to this Christian Website which has now been going for a number of years. Over 130,000 people have visited it since 2006. On the left hand side of the introductory page is a host of subjects and material that have been placed during this time and is there for your interest, study and perusal.

I feel it is time and right to change the format and to present day by day something a little simpler and trust will benefit and bless those who visit it. It will consist of A Golden Promise from the Scriptures, Wisdom that Works by Bob Stevenson, Choice Quotations and daily Meditations, working through the whole Bible, something to focus your mind on are included that can be developed more fully by you. I trust you will find such refreshing and helpful.

”and all these blessings shall come on you, and overtake you, if you shall listen to the voice of Yahweh your God” – Deuteronomy 28:2

Deuteronomy 28 is a chapter that starts with all of the promises of God to Israel if they simply listen to the voice of God and follow His ways. We read that there are a truckload of blessings that God wants to pour on all of us who simply say ‘yes’ to His plans and purposes. In today’s promise, we read that these blessings will actually overtake us as we live our daily lives.

When I think of God’s blessings overtaking us, I picture everyone running the race marked out for them that the writer of Hebrews mentions in chapter 12:1-2 and while we are running, God’s blessings catch up to us and overwhelm us!

I know it wouldn’t be fair to mention Deuteronomy 28 and all of the blessings that God desires to give without also acknowledging that this same chapter ends with all the curses that await those who disobey Him. I really don’t want to dwell on the last half of this chapter because I know that it is our Father’s heart to bless and not to curse.

The New Covenant is a covenant of blessings. We know from Galatians 3:13-14 that Christ became a curse for us so that the blessing that God blessed Abraham with would be ours in Christ. In Ephesians 1:3 we read that we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places because of Jesus. God’s heart is that His blessings would overtake you in every area of your life today.

RADICALS OR REBELS – Rev. Bob Stevenson

“My son, watch your step before the Lord and the king, and dent associate with radicals. For you will go down with them to sudden disaster, and who knows where it will end?”

Read: Proverbs 24:21-22

We have had ample manifestation of the damage and hurt that can come from the actions of extreme radicals, especially those of the religious kind. And to such we are told not to associate irrespective of their religious persuasion.

However, there is a big difference between an ideological radical who causes harm to others and one whose teaching promote peace and righteousness, After all one of the greatest radicals who ever lived was none other than

Jesus Christ Himself. No one would ever accuse Jesus of trying to harm anyone. No one could ever accuse Jesus of flouting authority and the cost that might have been paid by others. The teaching of Jesus may have gone against the grain of the religious establishment of the day, but at the same time, He embraced only what was true and righteous, even in the face of popular opinion and religious legalism.

If we are going to be radical we can be radical for God, but only on that same basis of truth and righteousness as demonstrated by Jesus. Any motivation outside of these boundaries will turn us into rebels with or without a cause, and as our proverb aptly points out, ‘who knows where all that will end?’

A QUOTE TO NOTE – Abraham Lincoln

Be sure you put your feet in the right place, then stand firm.

The final chapter provides a record of how things concluded. They could not have finished better. The parties concerned had every reason to be filled with ecstatic joy. All that had been previously experienced in terms of loss and sadness was somehow overtaken with the action of God on behalf of each one. The conclusion that God had in mind was far bigger that they had ever dreamed of and would bring immense pleasure.

For Naomi, there was a complete turn around in her fortunes because her future became completely secure in the obtaining of a distinguished son-in-law who would cover her needs. Besides this, she had a grandchild and even the people recognised what this turn around meant – vv14, 15. For Ruth, she had a magnificent husband that was devoted to her right from the beginning and she was to be a mother. Boaz was to find an excellent wife who would produce a son that would be involved in a Messianic and historic line. All the folks could delight because they had witnessed the providence of God in a marvellous way.

You, too, can rejoice this day as you reflect on the gracious dealings of God in your life. All the trials you have passed through are stepping-stones into a larger and significant life ordered by the Lord. At the end of the day it will become obvious that He has done all things well. Have a praise party today as you acknowledge all that the Lord has worked out on your behalf. The Lord needs to be acknowledged.
