It will consist of A Golden Promise from the Scriptures, Wisdom that Works by Bob Stevenson, Choice Quotations and daily Meditations, working through the whole Bible. something to focus your mind on are included that can be developed more fully by you. I trust you will find such refreshing and helpful.

A GOLDEN PROMISE

“For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb” – Psalm 139:13

The New International Version Bible says Psalm 139:13 this way… For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. (NIV) The New Living Translation says… You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. (NLT) No matter what translation you prefer, this is a gentle picture of God’s loving creation process.

You were not blasted into creation, but gently formed in your mother’s womb by a loving God who took the time to delicately knit all your inward parts together. May the revelation of your creation bring a sense of wellbeing to your soul. You were not a mistake. God planned you before the foundation of the world and He determined the exact time of your birth.

One of the greatest tragedies in this world today is the feeling that our lives were a mistake. Some people were even told that by their parents. The truth is that no life was ever a mistake. Each person ever created, was created with intention by the One who is love itself.

God gently formed you in your mother’s womb and He is the One who brought you forth on the day you were born. (Psalm 71:6) There is absolutely no doubt about it!

WISDOM THAT WORKS

GREAT EXPECTATIONS – Rev. Bob Stevenson

“My son, how I will rejoice  if you become a man of common sense. Yes, my heart will thrill to your thoughtful, wise words”.

Read: Proverbs 23:15-16

As parents constant desire is that our children will grow up to be the kind of people that we can be proud of. How delighted we  are when they come home from school with some award or achievement certificate. What a thrill it is to see them compete on the school carnival day! Whether they win or lose is beside the point to us. We are just happy to see them having a go.

However the problem does arise in some parents, of having expectations of their offspring which are greater than the capacity of the child to achieve. We do have to be careful that we do not set the bar too high and thereby create a sense of hopelessness when such a standard is not achieved. Happy are the children whose parents know how to strike the balance and not fall into the trap of trying to live out their own sense of failure by expecting unreasonable attainments from their kids.

If you want to get some joy and pleasure out of your offspring be sure they have a model it you that is happy to accept them for who they are, irrespective of their capacity to attain.

Whatever happens, don’t expect your kids to rise any higher than the bar you set for yourself. Better still, encourage them to set their own bar!

A QUOTE TO NOTE – Charles Dickens

There are dark shadows on the earth, but its lights are stronger in the contrast. Charles Dickens

DAILY MEDITATIONS

DIVINE INITIATIVE – Judges 13: 1-23

It is apparent in the birth of Samson that the Lord is seen taking initiative in providing an answer for His elect household. He had allowed them to be brought under the dominion of the Philistines because of the sinful ways and practices and for forty years it had not been an easy time – v1. They had to pay the price again as the result of their waywardness and wickedness. It seems that they never did learn the lesson of history and were so prone to doing their own thing and forgetting the rights of God.

He could have left them to what they deserved but here He is seeking to raise up an individual who would make his mark upon his day and subsequent history. The birth of Samson was quite a unique event as the narrative reveals. To a barren woman is given the unexpected news that she is to bear a son and that the Nazarite vow would be on him and that he would be the future deliverer of Israel. She is given promise and prophecy of what was to be and is confirmed by the angel in an unusual manner – vv19-23.

We should be looking to the Lord to show forth His grace and power in our times. He expects us to take initiative in given moments but also there are the occasions when he moves in sovereign mercy to take up the cause for His own. It is good to know that God has not forsaken this generation and that He can and will raise up people that will rise with unique anointing to deal with the Christian Church’s enemy. Let our assurance and optimism be placed in Christ to outwork something mighty in these days in the calling and revealing of men with spiritual and supernatural power and gifting.
