Rev. E. Anderson

Welcome to this Christian Website which has now been going for a number of years. Over 130,000 people have visited it since 2006. On the left hand side of the introductory page is a host of subjects and material that have been placed during this time and is there for your interest, study and perusal.

I feel it is time and right to change the format and to present day by day something a little simpler and trust will benefit and bless those who visit it. It will consist of A Golden Promise from the Scriptures, Wisdom that Works by Bob Stevenson, Choice Quotations and daily Meditations, working through the whole Bible. something to focus your mind on are included that can be developed more fully by you. I trust you will find such refreshing and helpful.

“So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God” – Ephesians 2: 19
When I walk into a house where I have never been before, it takes some time to get used to the new surroundings. I am usually very careful not to knock anything over and to do my best not to do anything that would offend the house owner.

However, when I walk into my own house, where our family has lived for many years, I am very comfortable with my surroundings. My wife and I travel quite a bit and there is no feeling like coming in the front door of our home after a lengthy trip and seeing familiar surroundings. The first thing I do is kick off my shoes and relax!

In today’s promise, we read that we are no longer strangers and foreigners, but we are fellow citizens with God’s people and we are members of His own household. Not only do we have full access to God’s house, it is our house too! It is a safe place where He wants us to be comfortable and relaxed. It is a place where we can feel like we truly belong!

My prayer today is that each and every one of us would know that there is a special place in our Father’s house (heart) for us. We are not strangers looking through a window on the outside, but we are joint heirs with Jesus, having full run of God’s house.

A GOOD NAME – Rev. Bob Stevenson

”If you must choose, take a good name rather than great riches; for to be held in loving esteem is better that silver or gold”.

Read: Proverbs 22:1

l like the way this proverb starts off with proposition of having to make a choice between two very valuable acquisitions. I like the ‘if’ because this tiny word indicates that a g name and great riches can go hand in hand. However if a situation should present it where you have to make the choice between maintaining a good reputation or a good name or engaging in some opportunity that make you a financial killing, but in the leave your reputation in tatters – go for the good name every time.

There is something about being held in esteem that by far outweighs any benefits mere money can bring. You see, we are just talking about the esteem you may receive from your friends and associates here on earth but what about the loving esteem you can have from the God of heaven Himself?

Whatever treasure we may lay up for down here is nothing compared with the treasure we can lay up ourselves in heaven. That is why the choice is given to us. You see, your good name will go with you into the presence of an all knowing God, whilst any temporary monetary advantage will have to be left behind.

QUOTES TO NOTE – Arthur Ashe

Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.

From what we get, we can make a living; what we give, however, makes a life.

True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost.

If  I were to say, ‘God, why me?’ about the bad things, then I should have said, ‘God, why me?’ about the good things that happened in my life.

TESTED TO BE PROVED – Judges 3: 1-7

One of the ways of the Lord to is to allow people to be tested to prove what is actually in their hearts and to find out whether they have a real heart and commitment to Him. When evil comes to pressurise and cause to respond to its impulses and directives, He desires that there should be a rejection of the same and a full-blooded allegiance to Himself and holiness. People need to discover where they are in this conflict, hence the exposure to things that would attract and draw away from God. This is a divine principle and process to be understood.

The people in the times of the judges showed the proneness of their hearts to be influenced by the people that were left behind in their godless practises. Instead of showing some spiritual sense and metal in resistance, they quickly conformed to those around. It was disappointing especially in the light of the fact that the Lord had done so much for them. He had not failed in His promises but had brought to pass so much for their good and happiness.

There is the need of the constant directive of Romans 12: 1, 2 to safeguard the sanctity of the faith and conduct of the Christian. The world must not be permitted to squeeze into its way of thinking, believing and living. Satan will make every endeavour to get you off track by seducing with many things from the world. The test will be on in your experience and this is allowed of the Lord to find out whether you desire to choose and go His way. As such is mastered in Christ, the life moves on into a greater state of blessedness and usefulness.
