Rev. E. Anderson

Welcome to this Christian Website which has now been going for a number of years. Over 134,000 people have visited it since 2006. On the left hand side of the introductory page is a host of subjects and material that have been placed during this time and is there for your interest, study and perusal.

I feel it is time and right to change the format and to present day by day something a little simpler and trust will benefit and bless those who visit it. It will consist of A Golden Promise from the Scriptures, Wisdom that Works by Bob Stevenson, Choice Quotations and daily Meditations, working through the whole Bible. something to focus your mind on are included that can be developed more fully by you. I trust you will find such refreshing and helpful.

“But now, Yahweh, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you our potter; and we all are the work of your hand” – Isaiah 64: 8

The Bible tells us in Genesis that God formed Adam out of the dust of the earth. I wonder if the creation process that happened in the Garden of Eden was similar to the reference that Isaiah makes in today’s Scripture passage?

God is a loving Father who formed us with His own loving hands. His eyes are focused on each one of us as He shapes us and molds us into the image of the Son whom He loves (Romans 8:29). He is for us and we are the work of His hands! What a simple but profound thought.

Ephesians 2:10 tells us that we are our Heavenly Father’s worksmanship created in our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ to do the good works that He prepared in advance for us to do! The enemy of our soul would want us to believe otherwise. My prayer today is that we would all see how amazing we are, simply because we are the handiwork of our Heavenly Dad!

LOVERS OF PLEASURE – Rev. Bob Stevenson

”A man who loves pleasure becomes poor; wine and luxury are not the way to riches! The wicked will finally lose; the righteous will finally win”.

Read: Proverbs 21; 1 7- 18

There is a certain hedonism that is so destructive we could wind up on a losing streak all our lives and then ultimately finish up being eternal losers as well. Hedonism is craving mere sensual pleasure just for the sake of it! It is living a life to be pleased only for pleasure’s sake.

Now there is nothing wrong with pleasure in itself. lt actually tells us in the Bible that “There are pleasures at God’s right hand and in his presence is the fullness of joy”. (Psalm 16:11)  How good is that? No! It’s when your desire

for pleasure at the expense of everything else. If all you seek in life is your own personal pleasure then you are of necessity avoiding, or at worst, deliberately refusing to accept the responsibilities of life, which are surely greater than my own personal gratification.

There are some aspects of life are not all that pleasant but they have to be addressed responsibly never the less. The Bible tells us that we are not to selfishly please ourselves but to consider the plight of others who happen to be within the circle of our influence. (See Rom 15:1)

Is it any wonder that the prophetic picture of the last days is described as being a world, by and large, who are, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God. Such folk will indeed finally lose. (See 2 Tim 3:1)

QUOTES TO NOTE by John Adams

Old minds are like old horses; you must exercise them if you wish to keep them in working order.

Great is the guilt of an unnecessary war.

Because power corrupts, society’s demands for moral authority and character increase as the importance of the position increases.

Power always thinks… that it is doing God’s service when it is violating all his laws.

BECOMING DISCREET – Proverbs 5: 1-2; James 3: 13-18

It is a positive situation worth gaining, to be in the place where one keeps a firm and wise rein on the lips so that only that which is good and wholesome proceeds from them. This means possessing a discreet mind and mouth so that one knows when and what to say at all times. This will help the avoidance of all kinds of problems and difficulties. The mouth lands people into many awkward and embarrassing situations because it is not controlled by wisdom and much damage is the result. The lips are to be used to inspire, encourage, enlighten and bless people with choice words. This consecrated instrument can do so much good as it is properly engaged by God.

The loving father does not want to see his son in this sort of situation and so seeks to instruct him wisely in essential knowledge. This will aid in keeping a hold upon his tongue so that all that is uttered is sound speech that communicates sense and answers always. This will preserve him from being accused.  It will mark him out as a wise and disciplined individual. He will not become guilty of mindless and senseless talk.

How important it is, as James points out, that our mouths and tongues become a well spring of life.  God desires that our lips be always used in blessing so that what flows forth from them is to the good of all. They are to be filled with divine messages and answers that will benefit those who are within our hearing. Let our prayer be to our Heavenly father: “Take my lips and let them be – Filled with messages from Thee.”
