Welcome to this Christian Website which has now been going for a number of years. Over 130,000 people have visited it since 2006. On the left hand side of the introductory page is a host of subjects and material that have been placed during this time and is there for your interest, study and perusal.

I feel it is time and right to change the format and to present day by day something a little simpler and trust will benefit and bless those who visit it. It will consist of A Golden Promise from the Scriptures, Wisdom that Works by Bob Stevenson, Choice Quotations and daily Meditations, working through the whole Bible. something to focus your mind on are included that can be developed more fully by you. I trust you will find such refreshing and helpful.

“Yahweh bless you, and keep you” – Numbers 6:24

God instructed Moses to pray a special prayer of blessing over the Israelites every day. It is an often quoted blessing and one of my most favorite ones in the Bible. Numbers 6:24-27… 24 ‘Yahweh bless you, and keep you. 25 Yahweh make his face to shine on you, and be gracious to you. 26 Yahweh lift up his face toward you, and give you peace.’ 27 “So they shall put my name on the children of Israel; and I will bless them.” (WEB)

In today’s promise, we are focusing on the first line of this priestly blessing to God’s people. The Amplified Bible says Numbers 6:24 this way… The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you; (AMP) The New Living Translation Bible says it this way… ‘May the Lord bless you and protect you. (NLT)

Whatever version of the Bible you prefer, the message is the same. The Lord’s heart is to bless you and watch over you in all your ways. Just like a mother hen broods over her chicks, our God watches over us with His mighty ferocious protective love. May each and every one of us be aware of His nearness today and His desire to bless us in all that we do.

BLACK OR WHITE – Rev. Bob Stevenson

”It is a horrible thing for a king to do evil. His right to rule depends upon his fairness. The king rejoices when his people are truthful and fair”. Read: Proverbs 16: 12: 13

Some years ago we had the privilege of hosting a student from Africa who was completing her Master’s Degree at our local University. During the time she was with us she grew to be a welcomed member of our family and we all loved her dearly. Her generous happy disposition was a continual delight to all of us and it was with some sadness that we fare-welled her after her studies were completed.

Having enjoyed such a close relationship, imagine our horror when we were told that if we were to travel to South Africa together, we would not be permitted to stand in the same line for immigration clearance, could not travel on the same bus, and would even be prevented from frequenting certain establishments together.

Yes those were in the days of what used to be called ‘Apartheid’ which inevitably was forced to collapse because of its unfair discrimination. As our proverb points out, any legislature that deprives it’s citizens of equal opportunity because of the colour of their skin, is doomed to fail, because any right to rule depends on fairness and equity.

The American Bill of Rights affirms that “All men are equal”. Sad to say the adage is still true in many parts of our world that some are more “equal” than others.

AN ORDERED HOST – Numbers 1 & 2

Israel rather hurriedly came out of Egypt as a great multitude. One necessity for the success of their journey was for them to become a disciplined and ordered host. It was an issue that had to be sorted out from the commencement and some organisation had to take place to bring this about. Here in this section is the ordering and numbering of the tribes so that they could move ahead in the best possible manner to achieve the ultimate end.

It is obvious that no one was allowed to do their own thing but that they all comply with the regulations divinely given. The record has it – “And the children of Israel did according to all that the Lord had commanded Moses: so they pitched their tents by their standards, and so they set forward, everyone after their families, according to the house of their fathers.” It must have been quite an awesome sight viewing this vast concourse of people moving together at the command of the Lord. As the standard of each tribe was raised, they rose as one to follow the pillar of cloud. Many years ago I heard a preacher refer to this sight as ‘the Marching Cross.’

We are told in the New Testament that God desires to see things done decently and in order. The Church of Christ is to be a disciplined host under Christ, marching and moving together in unison to achieve His goal for His body of people. He sets us in the local fellowship under its standard and we are to link up in harmony there and also with the wider and bigger family He has and is creating. The Christian Church is to be visualized as ‘an army terrible with banners’ as she responds to her leader, Jesus Christ.
