pastor’s weekly thought

Robin Hart

Following on in the series of ‘Setting the right climate’, Ian Williams spoke yesterday on setting the right climate for our community. Remember, it is important for us as Christians to set the temperature of the places we dwell in. It is time for the church to stand in the breach. For too long the church has been silent, but it takes you to start making a stand over indifference, injustice and idolatry.

There are five keys for you to embrace to see a change in your world:

The world needs wisdom. Don’t confuse age with wisdom as they are not the same thing.

Wisdom is required to separate what is worthless from that of value. Wisdom is the correct application of information.

The world needs integrity. Integrity needs to be at the core of what you say and do. Not just in public, but in private, in your invisible world that no-one else sees.

The world needs love. Sacrificial, selfless love. The way you love one another proves to the world that you are a Christ follower (John 13:34-35).

The world needs good advice. Good advice brings victory to your situation and removes your feelings of isolation. Seek good counsel and make sure it reflects the bible not contradicts it. Always discern advice.

The world needs self-control. Demonstrate your self-control by controlling your tongue, your thoughts, your behaviour, your flesh.

Set a spiritual, ethical and moral compass as a standard in your life for others to look to.

You can make a difference by changing the climate. You can and will see change, so make the most of all your opportunities.
