New horizons

Quite recently I read a book that was written by a dear friend and ministerial colleague. The Lord has done an amazing work of grace and transformation in his life, saving him from utter degeneracy and ruin, cleansing and sanctifying and then calling him into a tremendous ministry for him.In the concluding chapters of his book he speaks about ‘new horizons.’ Although he had moved a great way into a fresh life and ministry he sensed that there was always something greater ahead.

He writes that soon after moving into new premises to advance his work for God – ‘I was having a look around an art shop, I came across a painting called NEW HORIZONS. It shows a beautiful horizon across a wide expanse. I saw this and thought: That’s its. That’s what needs to go on my wall.’

And so it was and is secured there. He makes the point that since his dynamic encounter with God there has been one new horizon after another. He lives with the sense and conviction that the Lord is yet to provide new and greater ones in the future. What is implied by this is that God seeks to give you His divine perspective upon your life, service and future.

On the horizons He paints the picture, gives the clear vision of what you are to become and what you are to achieve by His inspiration. He is the Master-Designer and has the capacity to unveil beforehand where He is leading and desirous of producing in and through you.

Graphically upon your mind and heart He can lovingly and choicely detail what is to be brought to pass beforehand. In reviewing the lives of many Bible characters and the saints one notes that this has been the case and it can be the same for you.

The Lord paints the picture of Peter for him to note that he would become a ‘Rock’, a foundation and a picture of stability within His kingdom. The horizon was being portrayed and events proved that the Lord was altogether right in His disclosure. As the Lord anoints your eyes He will enable you to see the pictures that he paints regarding you.

Many years ago the Lord gave my wife three pictures in sequence: the first of a pigeon being carried by a man in a small box to a coote. The next one was of it being released in the coote. The final one was of it being released with the rest of the birds from its house. She was told by interpretation from the Lord she was like the pigeon in the box, all tied up and restricted but the time would come when she would be totally released and soar with God. This took place a few years later.
